I had been playing for awhile, my team had been pinned down, and there was no cover whatsoever to call in vehicle reinforcements. I had thought at first it was an overwhelming force of attacks upon the dropships... but instead it was just one tank. I realized this when someone had gotten behind the lines and most of the red chevron marks had gone after him, so I called in another dropship.the tank was practically alone as all the snipers were focusing down the spawn points.
It killed the dropships before they had a chance to even descend halfway, somehow the Attack of the tank's main gun was boosted to absurdity. I'm not sure if it was hacked or if this is a glitch of some kind.
But I finally got a tank down on the ground, and it blew up in one hit from the enemy tank's main gun.
What was on my tank you ask? Defense wise there were 2 damage dampeners, and 1 armor plate (about 1000 hp) Gone in a single shot. that's about... what.... 3,000+ HP gone in an instant? I think it was the Soma tank body I had used. Glad I didn't' test with the more expensive tanks...
Regardless, after having this happen I believe that both teams need an alcove in their "danger area" so that they can have a chance to call down vehicles etc. |

If it was a Surya, chances are that was me doing that.
Are you using the stock HAV, or did you custom build one just using the militia body and probably militia gear?
I can't oneshot a stock militia HAV, but I do shoot things before they land and then fire a second shot when it hits the ground. Also, it only takes one shot from me and one shot from a passenger to take out the militia HAV, only 1 from me for the militia dropship.
The problem is simply the HAV you're using - its body and likely you don't have higher level modules on it. The militia vehicles are neat and scary at first, but they're nothing more than Tonka trucks against a properly-outfitted paid-HAV.
To give you an idea, a Gunloggi I found earlier today was able to withstand 7 or so shots from me before it went down. Compare that to the militia one dropping to 0 shields and about 20% armor from 1 shot, and you probably want to work on upgrading your stuff if you plan to use the vehicles in a menacing fashion. Militia stuff is getting worthless as people get more SP. I've dumped about 4.2 million SP into my HAV to give you an idea.
But yes, I do feel the default spawns need a little more protection. I try not to spawn camp with my HAV. If I need to be near a spawn to protect a point we're capturing, I park away from the spawn and turn so my passengers can't shoot it. If you start throwing AV grenades and fire swarm launchers my way from your spawn, though, all bets are off. |

it really doesn't matter what the tank's armor or HP is. The fact of the matter was the tank was blasting down them all the NPC dropships in one hit. the cargo regardless of type armor and HP are all irrelevant because it will blow up when it hits the ground guaranteed. It gets crushed under the burning debris of the dropship and looses it HP too fast to deal with..
This basically proves that those dropships need about 400%-600% more HP just do do their job. if this kind of firepower is intended.
Also, this guy WAS spawn camping, the only spawn left was the natural spawn in the red zone. Which is why all the other players left the area to go after the one guy who got behind the lines, cause he was after a spawn generator. They were getting bored with the tank taking everything. |
