There should be a hacking skill, like in EVE, and instead of a 5% increase in chance of data retrieval, it should give you a 5% bonus to hacking speed, maybe have an advanced hacking skill too that adds 3% or 2% speed with the prerequisite of Hacking V. |

a bit OP. if anything allow the use of equipment that boost this.
Item: Battlenet Hacker
Buff 3~ boost to hacking speed.
Takes a **** ton of CPU that only a logistic dropsuit can equip.
or any other drop suit can equip it, it just means you can only equip less stuff due to CPU and a Mid (or the nano?) slot.
This way, you have to give something up in order to cap objectives and hijack rides faster. Without some kind of penalty everyone would want to equip it or train up. on top of that, the skill/equipment needs to be in the spirit of eve. |

Or give it a secondary use that increases the time it takes for an enemy to hack our stuff (non-stackable with other hacker units/modules)

Now that sounded a little nerfed to me. Just one skill then, doesn't have to have any advanced skill. It'd be only a 25% boost at level V and it could take a large amount of SP to get it to IV let alone V. |

Or how about being able to go through the same process as hacking an enemy installation on your own installations, but since it is already yours instead of "hacking" it's "encrypting" and after you encrypt it takes the enemy extra time to hack it. |

Could also have another sub skiil called Hijack which is where you hack vehicles faster. Just pitching ideas for the moment, not sure if that one would work all that well. |

hacking skills / items sure would add for more variety . . . i kind of see it more as a recon thing . . . a fast yet weakly armored man gets behind the enemy lines to hack and vanish. Sure sounds great on paper. . . |

Either that, or an additional skill that slows down the enemy's hacking speed by 5% per level. As ifnyoure setting up firewallls or something the enemy hacker has to bypass.
Firewall Upgrades?
Can be used on your own terminal before an enemy has hacked it. Does not apply to vehicles.
If someone has trained Hacking V, the speed would be as it is now for that player, if the firewall upgrades are in place. |

I have absolutely no problem with items+skills to increase hacking speed, I've even made a detailed thread about it here. After all, if the assault rifle skills all benefit assault rifle users, why shouldn't dedicated hackers get similar bonuses?

I kinda like the ideas to Hijack and Encrypt. More options for increasing the defending/attacking are always welcome.
I'm curious though, why is the scout slower at hacking than assault units? Or is it just me? |

Certainly, each fps player ever wondered "why this door does not open?". I wish CCP has introduced more objects that can be hacked(locks, doors and gates of varying difficulty, which sometimes can open only specialists). I would like to mercenaries were able to damage the structure, Planetary Outposts, or some mineral bases. When they realize that they are not able to overtake them. They could damage the main reactor, causing a power failure, or might be able to damage other things .. |

That actually sounds like a really cool idea. Being able to make certain objectives that little bit harder to hack could be the start to a trap.
Another option for the hacking skill could negate the extra time it takes when an enemy is nearby, assuming that's how it works. (sure seems that way) |

I think the hacking speed is fast enough as it is.
