I have a 120GB Slim PS3.. I've only gotten into a game once so far since starting to try last night.
All day today, when I try to get into the game, it goes to a screen with the loading icon in the center above some "planet" and it just sits there. Nothing happens. I've waited for as long as 20 minutes, and nothing happens. It doesn't seem to be downloading anything, it's just sitting and spinning.
I paid 20 bucks for this, I guess. I know it's a beta, and I'm not complaining.. but I can't beta test your game if it just plain refuses to load.

This happened to me as well.
I have 2 different PS3's, and I have my dust client installed on both of them.
The first one had your exact same problem. Happened the first 3 times i started the game, and the fourth time it booted fine and hasn't done it since.
The second one i installed it on happened the first 2 times then the third time booted fine and hasn't done it since.
Maybe just try doing it a few more times? Remember though, ccp isn't really responsible for any damage that comes to your ps3 :P
EDIT: if you're waiting more than a couple minutes (max 2) its probably time to quit the game and start it again. Just hitting the PS button and quitting the game worked better for me than recycling the entire system. |

Same happened here a few times.
Pretty sure it's due to the system not timing out (but needing to) when attempting to connect to the game server, leaving you stuck in a subroutine that won't finish.
Easy fix for the programmers, so it should be taken care of soon enough. |

It's just the ps3 trying to get everything together since its a beta. If you just wait a little bit it should just continue. Heck and if you wait 30 minutes and it doesn't go press the restart on your ps3 and continue from there. The ps3 is just "trying" to get all the information from the game ready before it shows everything. You wouldn't want a floating chair or something in the game would you? |

I did a little copy pasta from a different thread but you sir are not alone in this. I'm posting here as well in hopes this will in some way help the patching of this issue.
Fresh off the shelf, Current generation PS3 slim, 60GB HD. Wired 30Mb connection coming from a D-Link router, model DIR-615. Ping is 40-120ms. Average wait times for each screen is to character selection is greater then 15 minutes. Combat queing and accessing the fitting screes working properly. ALL other screens including market, skills and personal stats are also in excess of 15 minutes of load times.
i have deleted this load of the beta and installed again to see if that would fix the issue. it did not.
Thought i would also add i had no comparable issues the previous 3 weekends of the BETA with the previous build of the game. |

Same here I have stared at the planet with the loading circle of doom. :|
Some people mentioned change your connection to nat 2. After battling with my router for a few hours I go to nat 2.
That did not work. Before the 2.0 update the game worked decent, now it doesn't let me load.
I load for 30 mins and if lucky I get to the character select screen. Then it will load for another 10-15 mins and tell me I got a server disconnect error.
Least I'm not alone. |

I had this same issue. It was occurring on both of my PS3 systems, one hard-wired, the other wireless. Resetting my wireless router resolved the issue. |

Same problem, still searching the forums for a legit answer. My router is definitely not the problem as all other multiplayer games are fine. |

Yeah Hellhound I've seen a good handful of people is suffering from this problem. This is who is bothering to report the problem.
I'm also suffering from the infinite loading circle. In the beginning when you load the game does it show a bar saying uploading and validating files?

Yeah same thing, it hangs up at different points but I have never actually been able to get farther than creating a character... Truly frustrating seeing as how I bought this off PSN as an impulse buy. 20 bones down the crapper |

Lol the game is fun...when it works! You'll like it. The game is borderlands meets mag with a halo flavor. It is good stuff!
Just in the Beta state so we have to suffer through these annoying stretches.
I'm hoping it is fixed soon
You get to spend this 20 bucks in the beta! Then again for the release.
I got to make my character also but it doesn't go past that point. It's just staring at that dreadful planet. You can see a dragon if you look close.

I had this problem, and it was fixed when I changed a firewall setting in my router. If it is possible for you to connect to the Internet without a router, try that and see if it fixes it.

I will try, but this is what I was afraid of... If I wanted to start messing with router setting and all that I would have bought a pc and not a ps3.. Hopefully it gets worked out |

I've had this problem ever since the new build too. It took me 30 minutes just to create my character and I haven't even gotten into the game itself yet. I emailed support on Thursday but I haven't heard from them yet.
The funny thing is that even though it times out from the server, I have no problem with ping times. It sits around 40 ms for US and 120 ms for EU, even as I watch the loading circle spin hypnotically. I need to get my fix guys. I got the itchies
Oo and there's no firewall on the router or anything, so that's not the problem |

Are you sure it is not a firewall? When I changed the setting it helped.
If you are using a router it might just have its own firewall automatically. So you have to go into the router and drop the firewall. After that voila! You get some dust. :] |

Actually, I happen to be a systems administrator, so networking is something I'm familiar with.
That being said, my PS3 is on my router's DMZ. It is open to any and all traffic from the internet. I play numerous other games online on a constant basis using 2 different PS3's, 2 different PC's, 2 different android devices, and I never have any trouble with those games. My router is located literally 2 feet from where my PS3 is, on the strongest possible Wireless signal. Hard-wiring it makes no difference whatsoever. Quitting and reloading the game does not help either.
It seems very hit-or-miss. Sometimes I get right into the char selection screen, a lot of times it just sits and spins. I've only managed to get into two games last weekend; the first one, after I died twice, it wouldn't let me respawn. So I quit and joined another game, and played that out for the duration.. but since then, I have been unable to connect.
I have not yet tried to get back on the game since they "threw the switch" for this weekend's play. That's on my agenda for this weekend though. I'll update you all when I have a chance to take a shot. Right now, I'm pretty firmly believing this is a coding/networking issue on the end of the developer, especially when considering the number of concurrent reports from other players. |

Sounds more like a problem with Sony's network as many have had problems with buying merc pack from Australia for example even if it was supposed to be available but getting codes to dust beta and buying through the game worked for example.
So one important thing is; "in what country you live in ?" as here in Finland I've had absolute 0 problems with loading times or accessing servers and after all it doesn't need to miss packets all too much until everything is out of sync which I believe is the main problem ie. bad Internet to Europe through who knows what in which 3rd world countries, satellites and under sea cables.

I have had same issues since downloading game. One time I was fortunate enough to create a character but that took about 45 minutes. I can't even get to a character selection screen now much less play the game. Been playing other stuff online all week, that is not the problem. I live in US if that matters. Hope they fix this I would really like to play. |

Also if you guys can do a 'tracert' to CCP servers I think it would help a lot for solving the issue.
Command is tracert *server adress*

I've noticed a few requests for how to find out ping/latency to our servers. You can ping the below IPs to work out network performance & routes to our battle servers Smile
I'll keep this list up to date if we add or change locations.

I'm sorry, but I fail to follow what a traceroute will resolve. I don't have a routing issue with my connection; if I had connection issues then I would see those evident in all the other things I do online. A traceroute solves nothing. Thanks anyway. |
