Okay so I'm really new to this so it might just be me but,
I've seen ships land on the map, been in a rocket-turret and firing away at them, and getting the signal that I'm hitting something, but they dont blow up. After a barrage of missles (30seconds to a minute) sometimes people get in and take off with no noticeable damage to the plane
And often I see ships flying in and I'm shooting at them and then they seem to "disintegrate" when they get outside of the fight radius. I don't know if these players are flying into those areas because they know this and cant be shot at, or if these are NPC ships, but man, it's frustrating.
Anyway, any advice or looking into this would be great, thanks for addressing this. |

The large missile installations seem to do pretty junky damage to dropships I've noticed (and to vehicles in general). That may be the problem, and if there was a pilot sitting in there, they could have activated a repair module of some sort to offset what you were doing. If they were out of visible range (I shoot at em all the time if they call em in just outside of where I can see), they may have scooted it and you were doing only splash damage at that point, which is even worse.
I don't know about surviving 30-60 seconds of straight damage from one, but I know they generally get away pretty easily from 5-6 volleys if I'm shooting at one with one of those installations. |

I can't say I've experienced any dropships taking direct damage and not dying, though I have seen that happen with soldiers. I did encounter a strange issue earlier though, where it seemed like my swarmer rockets were flying harmlessly through the side opening of a landed dropship. I only managed to kill it by moving to the rear of the craft. It might have just been a range issue though.
As for the disappearing ships, that could be the carrier ships that drop off vehicles. If you only see that happen with the really flat, rectangular ship then that's what's going on. They just fly in and fly out, disintegrating when they're done. |
