Does anyone else think it's far too easy to roadkill with the air vehicles? It's kind of ridiculous. Three times last game I got smashed, once while I was in a tight space under a building. Maybe add damage to the air vehicles when running into walls, even softly, or have some kind of auto-land once they get a little above three meters off the ground to prevent them from being able to slide around. |

I'll be fair, being able to roadkill with a flying vehicle is awesome.....unless said flying vehicle is literally city block sized surfboard that can Mario Stomp any of us poor goombas with rail gun like precision, have no drawbacks, and flies like a dainty cherub.
Seriously, land, or don't, it's annoying enough people park them on buildings and use them as sentry turrets with the upgraded rockets. Or as every flying object in a shooter, is used solely for the purpose of getting a sniper on top of the highest thing around, having to deal with Dropship Bop-A-Mole is just damn stupid. |

It is cool for a little while, but I'm seeing pilots who can take down five or six infantry before being finally taken down by a team who all switches to heavy - shock to deal with him. It's really irritating when you see people using a support role (piloting a weaponless ship) as a primary means of attack. |

That could solve the problem too. However, the free tanks (the ones with the railguns) are a bit hard to use if one doesn't have great accuracy considering the charge time and the low splash range. Or, instead of getting rid of the militia dropships altogether, drastically reduce the maneuverability with them. |

I'm guessing you've never flown a dropship. There is massive damage when actually colliding with things. It's even possible to instantly kill your dropship and yourself + crew with it. The collision damage system needs a lot of work currently, but for the most part to kill someone you need to hit them at speed without actually hitting the ground, or somewhat slowly land on top of them. If you actually hit them + the ground at full speed, your dropship will die.

Quick point the militia vehicles are here is to stress test the server in maintain a multitude of vehicles at the same time in conjunction to the player base.

mario stomping drop ships used to be a lot easier in the last build, no collision damage, its a work in progress, patience. ive bashed into a light pole and sent my 100k drop ship careening into the hills no more than 10 feet off the ground within seconds of take off, collision damage is merciless if your not careful. for someone to bop around 5 or 6 people is actually some what impressive, especially if they were using militia drop ships which can be taken out by 2 or 3 militia geared assaults....
ive actually grown fond of the logi suit as an anti vehicle role, 2x equipment slots, just run with the pack and merc drop ships and tanks like its the cool thing to do.
tanks are the new heavy suits, and swarms are still super popular, but they arent unbeatable, just wait for the chance to pre-form teams to enter lobbies where people start getting coordinated |

i killed about about 8 people in a game while just messing about with the dropship, i think it needs looking at but dunno what to suggest ... if you slow down to a few metets above there head and land it normally kills them, if not i just drag the ship sidways across the floor ..i managed to squash 3 people at one by landing next to them and dragging the ship about a foot of the floor in to the side of a wall squishing all 3. i was just messing around with it after a bad game , sorry to the ones i squished, but it is a little bit insane if your a good dropship pilot. dropship does take a lil dmg , but it's free |

Really? I was under the impression that it was because they didn't get enough feedback on the vehicles in the previous build.
The point here is, Dropships are nuts right now. If they aren't busy smashing multiple enemies, they are taking up perches that overlook the entire map, and spawn camping with long-range rockets.
It seems the issue with dropships is that they fly, and unless you, yourself have a dropship, you can't really do much about it.
that said, they are also an integral part of the game. I have no idea what should be done about them, other than making them super easy to roll over or otherwise spin out of control (I.E. grinding along the ground trying to roadkill people should make the thing roll over and blow up)
Other than that, I have no idea how to prevent them from spawn camping from atop high buildings, or how to prevent the pilots from playing bug-squash with them. I'll leave that up to you guys.
But SOMETHING has to be done! |

there are a number of things CCP could do, vehicle altitude ceiling, NOT providing convenient flat surfaces for them to land on, increase visibility for high altitude vehicles and suits.
you dont need a drop ship to take out another drop ship, get a forge gun, get a swarm launcher, get a sniper rifle, get a mass driver, and LOOK UP. ive seen all of these options work, and ive been on both sides of the table more than a couple of times.
swarm launcher is difficult due to the locking ranges but is free and relatively conveniently accessed. just avoid detection while approaching so they dont have a heads up your there to start firing. or use another militia drop ship to drop up on a platform BEHIND field of fire and send them a couple swarm vollies
forge gun and heavy missile turrets(tanks/instalations) have amazing effect outside of visual range, just gotta have a rough idea where they are, which is 1 of 5 towers, along the edge, start working your way from there
sniper rifles take out static drop ship gunners in moments, often before they get the chance to properly respond. |

Maybe there should be a version of the swarm launcher specifically designed for an anti-air role. Make it only lock on to air vehicles and add extra maneuverability to the guidance. Or, have guns do different amounts of damage do different things, like in Battlefield 3. It may be less convenient, but then they could tweak effectiveness against certain targets. Make swarms do more against aircraft, same against tanks, and have less splash damage/weaker against infantry. |

heavy machine guns, swarm launchers and forge guns have been nerfed with this latest build, i might go as far to guess you werent in the last build if you think they need nerfed further, heavy suits were EXTREMELY difficult to take out 1v1 in an assault suit so people resorted to toting swarm launchers everywhere as a priamry weapon for anti infantry... advanced assault suits getting 1 shot at every turn... i made a point not to play the last weekend of the previous build because of swarms...
*edit* though i do like the idea of a specific AA swarm launcher variation, reduced damage for increased speed and better pathing so that drop ships have a harder time ducking behind structures |

No, I just got my beta key last night. I find it strange that assault rifles can actually do damage on the dropships themselves though. If three or four people start shooting at me in the dropship, my shields start falling pretty quickly.
I think the AA swarm should act like the Javelin system in real life, firing straight up, arcing, and then coming down on the target so that it's harder for the dropship to dodge. |

btw.. it takes 1x assault forge gun shot(with 2x10% modifer) to turn off flying DS. |

rifles do damage to real life aircraft, it makes sense they do damage to dust aircraft and vehicles, although its not much by comparison to total health, its not optimal or quick, but its doable. |

Bumping this thread because I strongly agree that something needs to be done about the Dropship so that "Whack-a-Merc" isn't a means of breaking the game. Any vehicle in general is supposed to be a delicate piece of equipment that costs a tremendous amount of cash, so why is it that they donGÇÖt . . . yGÇÖknow? . . . BLOW UP when they are rammed at any velocity into the ground or, for that matter, any surface? So why is it that these ships have the characteristics of bumper cars? Shields are a means of protection, yes, but you can only stretch the boundaries of plausibility so far. |

i want to be the best vehicle commander in dust so i tried out tanks in last build and im trying out dropships in this build. i get 5/1 kill death ratio with my slightly modified Merc Viper. just add 3x 15% nanofiber and you got that thing moving so fast you can run away as soon as the enemy sees you squishing their brothers n sisters.
i really enjoy talking to people in comms and having htem be my gunner and letting them get kills was fun and all but i dont get enough skill points and sometimes there are too many targets and i have to start killing by squishing also.
yes at some point i was greifing.
at B it is very easy to spawn **** by just hovering over the spawn and going up n down up n down right left right left smack against wall done. 5 kills then i hit barricade once, and POOF!
to prevent this from happening as much CCP needs to add more barricades.
possibly Alliances that have SOV can install more barricades onto their planetary defenses by increasing their SOV security levels |
