As probably all of you know, each race in EVE Online has unique ships and weapons all with different stats and functionality. Amarr ships use lasers and tank armor, Minmatar ships use projectiles and tank shield or armor, Gallente ships use hybrid and tank armor, and Caldari use hybrids+launchers and tank shield.
Coming into Dust 514, I was expecting that each race would have their own unique set of dropsuits and vehicles with different stats and bonuses, complemented by a unique set of weaponry. Instead I found that thereGÇÖs basically four dropsuits each one belonging to one race (light GÇô Gallente, logistics GÇô Minmatar, medium GÇô Caldari, heavy GÇô Amarr). The vehicles and weapons are also spread out across all races.
Was I wrong to have the impression that race itemization would be similar to Eve Online? As it is now, it just doesnGÇÖt fit into the lore at all. An Amarrian would never wear a Minmatar dropsuit and utilize Minmatar vehicles and weaponry (and vice-versa). The same goes for Gallente and Caldari (besides weapons). WhatGÇÖs really the point of choosing a race at character creation if players will have to utilize equipment from every race?
In my mind, each race should have their own unique set of four dropsuits (for a total of 16), a unique set of vehicles, and a unique set of weaponry (lasers, missile, hybrid, projectile). Similar to EVE, each raceGÇÖs dropsuits and vehicles would have their own stats and bonuses to support their unique set of weaponry and armor or shield repair.
Is there a plan to flesh out the dropsuits, weaponry, and vehicles for each race? As it stands right now itGÇÖs extremely disappointing to a lore driven EVE fan such as myself. |

i'm pretty sure the races were there to give you a boost in a particular group of skills. |

It's beta. We don't have full access to the entire list of equipment.
The SMG is obviously Minmitar, and the heavy gun probably Amarr (never used one). SWARM launchers I'm assuming are Caldari in lieu of their fondness for missiles. We've already got race specific stuff, and there will be more no doubt; CCP made it a big point to bring the races into artistry and weaponry. There are also two types of vehicles for two races.
I want a rust bucket tank! But we gotta be patient. This beta is mostly about game mechanics and bugs right now, we don't need the entire universe of stuff they have planned for us to figure out you can't sprint from crouch. |

All the vehicles are defined with turret types etc.
The Assault suits at the moment are all Caldari, The Heavy is Amarr and the Logistics is Minmitar. They all mirror racial attributes too. I think you'll see it more once we have more suit types and weapons. |

ThatGÇÖs a very good point and I completely understand the importance of polishing the basics before adding additional complexity on top of it.
The point of my thread was to get confirmation that CCP is planning to implement a full compliment of equipment for each race. In EVEGÇÖs beta (at least in the later stages of it) there were a full set of frigates, cruisers, battleships, and weapons for each of the races. Coming into this beta to find only four unique dropsuits and a mixture of racial weapons and vehicles was quite surprising and disappointing. I am worried that the current equipment design is what CCP has planned for go-live and honestly I am looking for some indication that this isnGÇÖt the case.
I realize that the current mixture of items would not be an issue for players not familiar to EVE Online. However, those that have played EVE have expectations for this game and IGÇÖm guessing most of those people are expecting the game to stay true to the EVE game design and lore.

So, assuming they take influence from eve. Each races dropsuites will provide bonuses and be complimented by a specific kind of weapon group. So, Gallente ships usually get bonuses to Hybrid Weapons (Railguns and Blasters) or drone and Armor Tanking mods. Minmitar ships usually get a bonus to Projectile weapons and but most mini ships are comfortable being tanked with armor or shields (not that its worth tanking the piles of junk)

Thats a screen shot of a section of my gunnery skills in eve online. Ive taken the time to train up so I can use most anything I find in remote 0.0 markets so im never without a ship and something to put on it.
I can take my projectile weapons and put them on a gallente ship ignore the bonuses the ship gives to hybrids. Alot of people actually do this because projectiles dont consume capacitor so you can still shoot even if someone neuts you.
So the prophecy is an Amarrian battlecruiser. Amarrians like the lasers (because they like saying "pew pew"). So their ships frequently support bonuses for laser systems. The prophecy gets the following bonuses.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: 10% reduction in Medium Energy Weapon capacitor use and 5% bonus to all armor resistances per level
Its used to tank alot of damage, its a very good ship to use to bait a fight. But active tanking costs capacitor just like the lasers do. So people will frequntly put projectile turrets on it to retain some DPS while making their capacitor easier to handle.
So..given that DUST devs looked to eve for some inspiration on how to create a varied and interesting set of options for players to play with.
I imagine a full featured dust having skills and dropsuites from each race. And each races dropsuits having pairings with weapons and tanking systems. |

Yeah i kinda feel the same way you do OP. I was under the impression we'd have different styles to match our race. Hopefully the FINAL build will have different looking weapons, dropsuits, and vehicles for each race. |

As some of the other's said, they're only using the assets that the Art Team has already completed. You might have noticed that with this build, the existing assets were given new color schemes based on Meta level. As an example, the assault rifle in the weapons DevBlog they released was listed as the GEK-38, but all the assault rifles use that same model right now. I would imagine that once the other art assets are completed and QA'd, that we'll be seeing different models for most, if not each of them. |

I would be very surprised if CCP deviated from the model of Eve very much.
I expect to have a scout, assault, heavy and logistics drop suit for each race, each with their own skill bonus and racial skills, same with weapons and vehicles.
They have said that there are 7 years worth of skills, that means there has to be some racial variants. If the skills we have now are all we get then it would only take like 2 months to get them all even without the 4x bonus.
Be patient, I am sure that stuff is coming.
I am looking forward to the fully tricked out active shield tanked dropship of missile launcher death machine that is Caldari.

It was stated there wouldnt be racial symetry at the beginning but would like to accomplish it, so the caldari heavy suit the amarr scout will not be making an apperance unless beta goes much smoother than planned. |
