I have always loved multiplayer shooters that are more than just a flat battleground, I always love the ability to climb up to higher layers and find a nest where you can snipe out of harms way for the most part.
The current map can be a little bit annoying for sniping at times, with lots of hills and blocking the view of the majority of the map, but I like the ability to work your way on top of some of the structures to get a better vantage point.
I'd really like to see more element's like this worked in to future maps, with tall towers for you to climb up or buildings with various floors that people can battle on.
I'm not sure how other people will think about this, but I'd also like to see some kind of jet pack or booster back to help infantry types reach higher ground more effectively. It could also possibly add a lot more chaos the the battlefield if people can drop in from above to help out capturing a point.
On another topic, I'd really like to see a big variety in map types. I know that with the concept of fighting over a planet it makes sense for all the maps to be large, but would there be any chance of maps set in a more urban environment with small twisting streets or maybe even set mostly inside a building full of tight corridors.
I feel it would really help to add variety to the game to mix it up in this way, having some maps where vehicles are very heavily implemented, and others where they were much less prominent, and it's something not that many games bother to do. (The only examples I can currently think of is Counter Strike, which has some pretty open maps combined with lots of compact office spaces and such)
I only started playing the Beta yesterday, so I don't know if any other maps have been shown, or what there like if they have, but with the games unique setting, the fact that your travelling between so many different planets, it just seems to be the perfect opportunity to have lots of variety and crazy variation in the maps. |

I would love this as well, however, before they can do that they will need to fix the Sniper Scope ranges. Right now, the scope ranges are 25% - 50% of what they should be. Because of this issue, Snipers cannot take advantage of the high ground properly. Before people mis-read what I said there... The rifles have the range, the scope does not.

A better solution is to work as a team and ask one of the dropship pilots for a lift and when CCP adds the MTAC / Wasp, use that to get where you need to be.

CCP recently had a DevBlog on this very subject, apparently they are planning to create a more random environment than what we are seeing now. Additionally, in one of their recent videos they showed someone creating an indoor combat range. Finally, the if you zoom all the way out on the map, you will see that the maps are actually pretty large. It is believed that CCP will be taking full advantage of this size, but are keeping it small while they test the game and performance.

You need to know that in the future the maps for conquest mode are generated instead of predetermined. There is also beginning hints that maps are going to have more random elements in them so memorization of maps entirely may not be an option.
Also eventually I think ccp should increase to full game performance eventually as they keep taking steps to make the gamebetter and better. |

I've noticed this too whilst using snipers, and I would hope it's something they hope to improve upon at some point.

I realise it could be a little cheesy, but I think giving people that ability would be more than worth it. It doesn't necessarily have to be something like a jetpack, just some way for players to reach higher places, especially when they cant rely on a dropship to help like you suggest. I'm not sure what the MTAX/Wasp are, but maybe they do this exactly? I'll look them up.

I was completely unaware that there was going to be any kind of randomised/generated elements to the maps! It really is quite amazing just how much they intend to cram in to this game.
Would you mind adding a link to said video's?
Also, I had noticed that the maps were very large, but I assumed this was mainly for aesthetics. It would be amazing to see much larger maps with much larger amounts of players battling at once.
With the way Dust is being made, CCP seems like they are intent on bettering every popular shooter out there. |
