I am pretty sure the driver has a place to sit.
Considering how vague your post is I am not sure what anyone else could say to it. |

^^^ Planes, jets, helicopters have cockpits, cars have passenger/driver compartments. |

Your point is?
I am pretty sure you sit in the vehicle when you fly it.
Are you asking for a first person view with a virtual cockpit? |

Ok I edited the title, now it's clearer. Sorry if it was misleading but I thought that saying "Cockpit first person view" in a FPS was redundant ;) |

I know that in dropships if you press R3 it takes you to a first person mode. |

^^^ I know but it looks like you are flying camera and it's incredibly awkward to tell distances as well. BF has cockpit view and it looks like you a re in a jet/helicopter and you have a better sense of where the nose of you aircraft is. |

I understand what you are saying.
To make this clear to others:
We know there is a first person view for vehicles by pressing R3. We would like to be able to see the actual view from the cockpit, Such as the actual controls of the cockpit and maybe our hands on whatever controls the vehicle.

No hands on the steering wheel is silly; really I din't know mercs had telekinetic powers. Also the steering wheel doesn't even move :( |

I can't believe I am the only one that wants cockpit view. Really BF 3 has cockpit view, Killzone 3 has it and you can use only 1 vehicle. Some of the best FPS out there have it, not to mention mech games.
It's a must have. |

I thought we were mostly viewing the world outside our vehicles through camera interfaces, not through less-durable transparent bits placed where extra protection should go to reduce risk of damage to the squishy bit in the middle? |

This is why the handling in them is garbage. Its hard to steer with no hands.

Lore has no place here. Dust 514 must meet the standard set by its competitors and possibly surpass it.
Would you play a FPS that plays and looks worst then other FPS? Clearly not. |

Lore has a place when it clearly defines a reason why a cockpit view makes no sense.
A better-looking vehicle-specific HUD, I'd argue in favour of. But not cockpit view. |

^^^ Cockpit view makes sense because if we have to enter a vehicle to pilot it instead then remotely control it, then that vehicle has a palce for us: the cockpit must be there and we should see it If lore says that we use cameras I say " we still enter a cockpit" so we should see it.
CCP want us to have Quarters because it add credibility: aren't cockpits credible as well?
Ace Combat has all the 3 visions so what's the problem with cockpit view anyway? |

The cockpit is a fully sealed environment without any windows or screens. You're effectively "plugged in" to the vehicle to view the world outside.
Your cockpit view would be pitch black. Not what I'd call helpful.
I still say vehicle HUDs could use renovation, but I also still say cockpit view makes no sense.
The AC relevance isn't there because the armoured cockpits in those games are lined with viewscreens on the inside for the cameras, so they function like a conventional cockpit. Different rationalisation behind tech = different in-game visualisation of results. |

I think they really tried to copy halo in terms of vehicle handling & vision. It seems all too similar for me.....
