Do what my buddy did years ago when the US Army wouldn't take him; go somewhere else. In my buddy's case, it was the US Marines as they will just about take anyone.

Aren't the Marines like, top military or something? I had/family in the military, but don't know much about it. It fascinates me for some reason, which wouldn't explain why I know so little about it.

War is a necessary part of life. It's a job that must be fulfilled.
Also, drug cartels and militias prove that formal militaries are not the only humans capable of successfully engaging in war. Therefore, without formal militaries there would be no one to protect the public from roaming hoarders of war mongers and opportunistic bandits.
