Just read the news, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington hung himself in his room. I'm shocked... R.I.P. legend.
He found a way out, and we're still stuck here.

I have a lot of trouble caring these days because my country literally drops bombs on kids and civilians, police killings are on the rise, our leader basically praises Duterte for "handling" their drug issue, we're trying our hardest to keep the poor and disenfranchised off of healthcare, people are dying of cancer and **** from all kinds of air borne carcinogens etc etc.
Its just too ******* draining and at this point happiness seems selfish and compassion towards the individual just feels hollow and worthless
At least his kids have money, much more than can be said for the kids of the thousands who pull that trigger one last time every single year. (or whatever door they take on the way out)
What a mess we've made :/ |

I've been riding on the bus to night school for the past year and everyone is always nice, you won't see that elsewhere.

The moment that notification popped on my phone, I headed over to Good Mythical Morning as they were special guests for one episode. It was sad to know that so near ago everything seemed fine and they were happy having fun, an a few weeks later, and he's gone.

You're basically saying everyone is heartless because we value everyone differently. You value a musician who took his own life willingly above some nameless kid in Syria who died from a a bomb attack, without a say in it whatsoever, just because you didn't know his name, while I, on the other hand, only value my family and friends above anyone else.
Ah, the irony.

Ah, the irony. I was mostly joking, but there are a lot of assumptions wrapped up in there. I mean, someone heartless wouldn't even care about family and friends.
One, you somehow draw a conclusion about my comparative level of concern for a musician and a Syrian child when in fact my statement never even suggested a level of concern. Plus your statement also suggests that one cannot possibly care for multiple people of different backgrounds, whether that was an intentional suggestion or not.
Second, you assume that people taking their own life are doing it entirely rationally and therefore willfully. There are many circumstances in which suicide happens, and I can't even pretend to understand what some of these people go through. My own brother in law killed himself leaving behind my sister and 16 month old neice. Chester left behind six children, and having seen what they will be going through first hand, I can't help but find some degree of sympathy.
Public figures often affect the lives of some people just when they need it most. I don't think it strange that people are grateful for those figures and their gifts, or that sometimes those gifts can have profound affects on an individual. Nor is it strange that they should mourn the loss of someone who made a difference to them.
