I always thought Destiny was just a Dust knock-off, a bad one at that.

It's definitely worth a try. Pretty solid gameplay, other then the magnetic headshots.
I just thought that the campaign was going to be better from the way the beta was headed, as well as having super expensive DLCs that barely added anything.
If I buy Destiny 2, it would be after the final DLC is released, or if I decide to pirate the whole thing. Yar har har, matey

Clans aren't necessary
Chat channels are necessary
Being able to consistently meet up with the same people on a regular basis, communicate with them, join in conversations, easily squad up together...that's what made Dust stand out from the other games

Clans made a huge difference well corps..if not for that I wouldn't have joined Imps and be pursued by others, i was a solo type but dust corps changed that and made it more fun..i wouldn't squad up with some randos in a rando chat
I definitely agree chats are important but so are clans |
