eh. I think for some, it's the lack of perspective. I think a lot of this could just be coming to a point where the only context they (we) have is through DUST. I mean... we all do it in life. Person A makes an observation about some "thing." Person B cannot relate to that particular thing, so that person projects a world view of some other thing that they can relate to, to try to better understand whatever Person A observed. As a model, if you will. Person B will not truly grasp Person A's opinion, because that person does not have the same perspective on the matter. Instead, Person B can only project what is being said against their understanding to the thing that they can relate to.
It creates a gap. A big one, usually. Both get annoyed with each other at the lack of quality communication. Empathy is very important to not only translate information, but to recognize when information is not being understood to know when to stop attempting to translate and instead, start mediating between the two views. Usually, person A just gets annoyed and becomes dismissive of Person's B inability to change position assuming it's out of defiance or some other emotional motivation, when really it's just lack of perspective and devolving communication. My experience in life is that most people don't even recognize the disconnect enough to try to translate their views to another to begin with. We all assume everyone sees what we see.
A lot of people are using DUST as a point of reference to apply the new abstract (abstract from their perspective) ideas and discussions to, to try to relate. Pokey has posted a great list of Q/A items recently that REALLY help reshape our understanding of what it is that CCP is trying to do. That is communication. There has been a vacuum of information before that, for some time. Is it any wonder that people are bucking? Very little is known about this new thing, and new concepts do not apply to what they understand, based on perspective shaped by their experience within DUST.
I argue then that it's not because it is "not dust," necessarily, as it is possibly that DUST is all we know and have been building anticipation upon for a good year or so. Sure, defensive postures develop and it becomes reactionary to attack the lowest hanging fruit (i.e., why everyone insists the entire game is going to be CQC, so that frustration feels justified for the moment). I still think that reaction is more a result of just simply not being able to yet relate to the new concepts.
Or not. And we're all just being dicks to **** on everything. You never know ;)
*edit* wow. that's funny to censor ****, but not ****? lol and here I've typed that with an exclamation point for years without needing to!!! *going back to edit ever post ever!*
wait. i guess "s" makes all the difference. the take away here is that one **** is never good; however, more than one is just awesome? *shivers* ok. i'm way off on a tangent now.
