I've got this awkward feeling...Dust 514's experience will never be recreated fully.
I'm scared. Nova should be Dust 514 with all the benefits of UE4...
If Nova leaves out features Dust had, it...it won't be a game I'd want to play.
I played Dust 514 because I loved it, we all did, and if Nova won't be what Dust was, then, well, it just won't be the same.
#BringBackVehicles #OpenWorldMaps
Make a new Dust 514, what it was meant to be all along. Don't change the core, build on it, and make Dust great again.

You didn't catch the UFC fighter sponsorship?
I just keen to see CCP's take on it, was complexity on the list?

It's concepts should be improved upon and the bad parts removed. What is bad though? It seems the developers think complex = bad and that a steep learning curve = less players. So far everything they have said has pointed to tossing out what everyone liked about the original.
Hell, they're talking about getting rid of skilling into things and simply earning things by playing certain roles more often.
That's one thing that made Dust 514 great. It wasn't just a shooter, it was a thinking man's game with consequences.
We don't want Nova to be something ' better ' than Dust 514. We want it to be what Dust 514 was supposed to be.

Pokey you want something to better by making something else.
We are losing the things we love about dust.
Is that making it better.

It's better this way. It is evolving.
When things in reality can no longer continue acting as they do they either come to an end or evolve. Nova will be the next iteration of Dust 514 and therefore we should treat it as merely a natural step in the cycle of progress. Dust 514 will exist through the product of Project Nova or it will not exist at all.
Do not simply dwell on what is lost in the past; look forward to what may be gained in the future.
Once, we paced on desolate, back water worlds fighting as mercenaries in behalf of powerful corporations and our purpose for fighting was fighting. That was the end of our toil. Now we are given the privilege of fighting on behalf of capsuleers and their dependents in the skies. We always sought the respect of the capsuleers even if we ourselves insisted that was not the case. We still do not have it. That will have to be earned.

LOL! I never watch goku said something like that. Loling seriously.
Back to topic.
I'll play nova because I use to play dust514, believe me on that one. Those are my sentiments and things I love about dust. I guess I already know I'm on the losing side of this topic.
I think I'll just have to eat that horse then. When the time comes, if, it ever comes.

Yeah I too feel slightly pessimistic about what Nova will be. I have the feeling it will be missing the vital 'DUST' essence, that thing about DUST that made it unique that you can't quite pin down. Slightly disappointed the complexity of the game is being scaled down. Whilst that makes the game more popular, if CCP was purely concerned about sales then they might as well just make CoD. I'm sure the second-to-second gameplay of Nova will be fun, but there are plenty of other shooters where the second-to-second gameplay is very fun too. Will Nova be able to compete solely on that basis if it doesn't have DUST's X factor? I suppose Nova doesn't really need vehicles. It would be nice if it had them, but I understand that they're very difficult to get right. I just hope CCP doesn't add them as an afterthough; something like that would inevitably mess up balance and leave the vehicle experience unfulfilling. I also hope that there isn't too much focus on PvE. Nova should be primarily a PvP game.
A part of me feels that the flaws of DUST were its strengths. The little bugs and imbalances, quirks and oddities were part of the experience. It made DUST DUST. In furiously polishing something to shine, are we unknowingly eroding away a beautiful mosaic?

I like you youngin's but damn do you have a lot to learn...
To cover a couple things.
A) F*ck marketing. You can't market a piece of **** and expect it to be gangbusters long term. If you looked at the New Player creation chart that EVE Offline had, you would have noticed tons of people joining on open beta. It's not that people didn't know about the game, it is that the game sucked to most people playing and they didn't stick around. You can't market to that. It just doesn't work. Period. If someone doesn't like Brussels sprouts, you can't just show them an advertisement, and suddenly they will like it.
Marketing. Doesn't. Fix. Everything....
B) The game was crappier than you give it credit for. It wasn't polished crap, because it wasn't even polished. Did it have awesome qualities that none of us have found in other games? Absolutely. Did that negate the glitches, the brokenness, the complete mess that was much of the coding in Dust? No.
C) This game isn't meant to be a one and done deal. Stop spreading the notion that just because something isn't in the game at release you will never see it. EVE doesn't look like it did when it first started. WoW is so different a game from it's release. The intention is to create something that will be around for years. A foundation to be built upon. By it's nature it will be iterative.
Is it reasonable to be concerned that the game will fail, and the fullness of Nova doesn't get realised? Yes.
Is it reasonable to say that just because something isn't in the game at the beginning, then CCP must intend the game to never have ever, in the many years that could possibly come for Nova? No.
I get it. You are nervous. You have every right to be.
But for F*cks sake, stop it with the apocalyptic talk. Stop exaggerating to the point of being ludicrous. Stop jumping to conclusions when you don't have a whit of evidence about anything.
We need your input, but if you are going to make such ridiculous conclusions, and make baseless exaggerations you aren't going to provide any useful ideas.
Get ahold of yourselves!!

I don't share in the pessimism, although I do understand the concerns and doubt.
CCP has a long track record of producing an alternate reality people really like to play and spend money in. CCP is absolutely correct that they need to make FPS that can stand on its own and will attract paying players.
CCP has always listened to their player base and adjusted the games according to the players wants, I see no reason Project Nova will be any different. There are certainly enough FPS shooters in the world who will step up to the plate of an increasingly expansive and percipient universe where they can build their gaming career around, I am one of them.
I know I am all in on Nova, and I expect it to take years for it to be what I am looking for in the game. However, I am willing to grind it out because I know CCP will be there adjusting as needed.
In the end, it's a very symbiotic relationship, CCP will give us what we want because we give them what they want. This is a fair exchange and something that CCP has proven itself most capable of doing.
