So I was recently watching the fanfest 2017 design panel with the main people in each team that develop EVE. When it came to the Q&A session someone asked a bit of a trolly question about if any of them were working on 'opening the door'.
For those thinking 'what door? WTF' Dust had one too. In your MQ there was a door graphic that was just a wall, you cant open it, it just sits there forbidding you from seeing the rest of your station (pre warlords, or Warbarge post warlords). And in my humble opinion what kept dust from actually feeling part of a bigger world, you couldn't walk outside your room, you couldn't interact with anyone short of in combat/voicecoms. And you certainly could build your own suits/weapons which is why blueprints felt such a flat mechanic. its not a blueprint you aren't building anything.
Eve's Door blocks us from seeing the rest of the station that was originally sold to us years ago when Walking In stations, and interacting with other capsuleers face to face. The main reason for abandoning this was that it wasn't anything relevant to what EVE is. Eve isn't about dancing, drinking sitting down in a area watching other people doing the same thing. Its about spreadsheets, spinning your ship and taking other people stuff off them.
I guess what I wanted was not Walking in stations but Fighting in Stations....
The following exchange takes place around 30:27 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfDkvycvOMg
Question - Are you working at any level on opening the door?
Fozzie - None of US are!
Audience - Anyone else?
Fozzie - Nothing that I can talk about.
In this crazy theory Nova/unreal 4 Code actually replaces the old Legacy code for Walking in Stations which was a separate engine from EVE as I understand it. As a capsuleer I can land my ship and go to my quarters and the game loads the Room with the door, but its in unreal not the CCP engine for stations.
Maybe there is an option in the launcher to load directly into this room at launch.
Imagine now that Nova players are actually Alpha clones in EVE (i've talked about this before, Alphas are the free to play option), you can buy minerals from the EVE market, launch into EVE space and do some EVE things and make weapons and suits pretty quickly using the EVE blueprints to loose in battle, Even sell them to others for some extra isk.
You can load Nova, launch into EVE and fly to a new station or Load EVE, go into station (Nova) and through the door and walk around and see everyone else docked there. Maybe its a clone Control room from which you can jump to another location?
If you are a single player/small group just wanting a scrap you can go to a public match (on which spectators can place bets) you can enter this from the control room and you don't have to be in the same place initially.
As we have heard there are maps on the surface of ships and maybe stations where you can see an EVE themed animated skybox.
If you are involved in Larger things however imagine being part of taking over one of EVES large citadel stations?
Mostly when people are conquering each others space there will be friendly staging stations in the system being taken you would clone jump to this switch to EVE load up your ship with the weapons, suits and clones that you wanted to commit to this battle in your cargo and fly across space, into the enemy station. back into Nova and you would appear in a station hanger and begin shooting.
The station maps are large with multiple objectives for multiple squads/teams to assist each other or to be taken individually. With multiple game zones based on Skirmish, Dom and Ambush in the same instance before you can capture the station. I.e to conquer the station your squads must find and hack 3 terminals to get past securing (Skirmish), before moving onto either the power core/main computer Core zones (both DOM) you must hack and take one of these while the enemy tries to defend. If successful in taking the objective, there is then a grace period before which the defenders get another chance to Ambush you at the main Core and take it back.
This would be like Ambush 1.0 in that the 2 zones I talk about would not be separate rounds it would be a large map, complete one objective then onto the next seamlessly.
But basically EVE is Nova and Nova is EVE, One Universe // One War.
Now where's my tinfoil hat?
Flame on.
Anyone getting annoyed by reading of the above post should consider the following.
I don't care so neither should you :)

It is interesting on how he says it. Of course, he could simply be phrasing his answers in a way to not disappoint some players out there. After all, which would you rather hear when you're wanting something; "We have no intention of ever pursuing that" or "Nothing I can talk about at this time"? As for your speculation on what could happen, I don't see it happening as I am pretty sure CCP is going to want to keep the roles of capsuleers and mercs separate for various reasons I won't go into at the moment. On top of that, I sincerely doubt EVE players would go for it overall. Now I do see a possibility of stations being used kind of as player lobbies or other but I doubt that would ever be spurred from the EVE side as it would likely come from the Nova side AND that would be after some integration between EVE and Nova, economic or otherwise, had actually taken place. I say that as when EVE players are in station, they are normally doing stuff like messing with fits or other assets where if they want to chat, they can use the chat channels or voice options they already have while doing so. Still, it doesn't hurt to dream.

I would be happy just to have a bar with proximity voice chat...

Seriously though, I remember the fun had while waiting for PC matches to start. It would be kind of cool if when you logged into Nova, you were brought into a similar thing so you could see who was in a match and who was not within your corp. IDK though. I think my corp mates and I made it fun as we had to wait a mandatory 10 minutes. If it was an optional thing that could be skipped, I imagine many (possibly even myself after a while) may do so. For example, when I first played Destiny, I initially thought the player staging area was cool. After a while though, it did get annoying where I rather had just went directly to a vendor rather than spending minutes running through a bunch of randoms I had no interest in talking to to get to vendors.
