The problem with dust was it was too complex to understand, preventing the entry of new players. With Split-Screen, Project nova would provide the ultimate NPE tool; having a teacher in the room.
split screen allows players to market the game to their friends whilst enjoying it together, showing its capabilities for teamwork etc at the same. It is my understanding that UE4 already comes with the capabilities to add this quickly, Of course, this idea revolves around Project nova releasing on consoles.
If CCP wants new players to enter the eve universe this could prove to be a powerful tool to have.

Viktor Hadah Jr wrote:Split screen is good on some games like mario cart. Because in mario cart you don't have to mess around with fitting screens, planets, orbital strikes, chat screens and skill point assignment. In mario cart you just press a button to throw a shell at the person in front of you...
Me introducing dust to a friend of mine: "Now if you thought that was a lot to take in, let's try it with half the screen to where you can't even read what's on the screen"
The "splitting" doesn't have to take place immediately whilst on the neocom, it could be that it only takes place during matches. The main point is that you can show your buddy the main gameplay aspects and what makes the game unique, whilst having fun together. Everyone knows how boring it gets watching a friend play a game as you just sit there.

Split screen is good if your buddy is in the same room on one console. Now your students are around globe... and universe.
Yes, these are good methods, but SS allows many more players to market the game, not just those who have a youtube account etc. especially with UE4 where a local split screen could easily be coded within a day. This benefit could definitely outweigh the cost.

But yeah, that's actually an interesting idea. Let the player log in with a character and then play the character as two characters in split-screen. Basically, both would use the same pool of resources separately and consume everything at double rate thanks to having two bodies that can die and lose fittings. This would mean that all out-of-game menu interactions could be done in fullscreen, as there's only one character logged on, while ingame would split up. This makes it easier to introduce your best buddy to the game.
Also, the newer console re-releases are 4k-capable. Just lower the settings a bit and you should be good to go on a screen that is the size of four 1080p screens.
Also, what the hell is up with people calling splitscreen outdated? Are you infatuated with being assholes to people with other playstyles or what? Thats contrary to what ive seen, perhaps he was having net code problems?
