I feel that CCP does not realize the money they are wasting by not making Dust 2. Dust missed most points that make a FPS great yes, but they found a strong niche somewhere mostly unexplored In the genre. The SANDBOX! Sure Destiny and Planetside where close, but at the end of the day, your personnel actions mattered not. In Dust, If you stayed up late and deflected an attack, you held your land, or if you choose to attack, you lost much isk or gained new.
Dust 514 was the best game for a fps player looking for rpg elements, not limited to the skill tree. The sandbox element saw players infiltrating, spying, and demoralizing enemies corporations. Those where straight up role playing in real life but while playing a video game.
Even to this day, I dream of this game. Unfortunately the game no longer looks the same but Im ok with that. The game evolves, even in my own head. So should the coding. So should a new game be born. Dust is and was a unique game but it stands as a revolutionary game at which I hold all games accountable to her scale. Those of us still browsing forum accept this project is dead, and I personally assume all forward projects as well. Not by player want , but due too CCP giving up.
There is no comparison to any other game on the market, and the bar is set I think relatively low. Yet there are thousands of us from the ps3 era that had exposure. Our thoughts on the greatest FPS should not go overlooked . I know CCP FPS mechanics first, but that is the wrong direction. Dust 514 was great because of the fact the universe could be controlled by us. If we choose and put the time in and were good enough, we could own. That is the thing no other FPS or RPG game has, period (maybe eve).
Those are the things that nova (if it actually exists) should build off. It also needs to build off of word of mouth from us Dust Bunnies. Your letting a brand /franchise die off due to indecision. There is a reason us Dusties are still here shitposting. We love what dust was and it was are best video game experience that we had as a whole( =$$$).
P.s VR is cool, but very few people will pay for it, its fun but not worth the headache. You play VR for for a few hours for the fun, you play 2d for 18 hours straight so that your corporation succeeds.

Despite the complaints about Dust ... i have never played a game for years (beta vet) and still could not wait for the next chance to log on like i did with Dust 514. I new countless Dust players that payed way more than $60 bucks on the game and would have continued to spend more.
So what if sony wanted CCP to fork up 2 mill for better security, if they did so and transferred there investment to PS4 they would have made that back in no time at all easily.
Not many games retain there player base for years on end, even when they leave to play something else they ALWAYS came back to Dust for there daily grind. Someday another company will make a similar game and they will tap into a starving market. CCP should heed this truth and not put all there efforts into VR and keep any version of DUST ACTIVE while they develop its successor ... they will be richly reward by a humbled and loyal fanbase. |

I'm really just saddened by what has happened to CCP. It started off visionary with EvE and was building a universe (New Eden) in which as time progressed we the players could do more and more, and Dust was meant to be a planetside extension of that, but was handled so badly that it was cordoned off to be its own little universe, with only a tenuous link with EvE. If they had handled it right, they could have had EvE pilots going down to the surface to fight as mercs, mercs being transported around the EvE universe by troop transports piloted by EvE pilots, merc interactions with EvE pilots on stations, the works. Instead, none of that happened and then CCP got taken over by crazy VR obsessed ideas that have all but put a stop to any further development of what could have been. Yes, we still have the prospect of Nova but I don't really hold out that much hope for it, as I believe CCP is just keeping us placated until we all just disappear from lack of interest.
What saddens me is that the original CCP would have wanted to fix this, would have wanted to get all this wonderful diverse New Eden fixed and happening, but what CCP has become isn't interested at all. |

No, they don't.
Hilmar just doesn't care. Which makes it hard on Rattati because he does care.
This entire situation reminds me of hitIer.
He was also tired of CCPs sht

New article from CCP CEO Hilmar ... VR or Bust
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-03-29-ccp-ceo-i-would-call-the-vr-installed-base-huge
Damn it, Im starting to really hate VR ... it has ruined Dust. The VR market is for gamer elites, not the average gamer which is the "huge" market. |

Not too big a fan of sandbox fps's.
I'm more of an instanced battle advocate myself.

I like the open map "fish bowl" fps style Dust had with vehicles versus the "lobby" style Nova may have ... however i will be grateful for anything that resembles Dust. Im not ready for VR but I will be if Nova becomes a VR game.
