Saying foolish stuff like that is why they keep their mouths shut now. Anyone who wants to keep complaining about the silence can just look at the OP to see why that is.

Sorry if I wasn't being clear, I meant that CCP was foolish for saying things, not that you were foolish for pointing that out. I realize my comment was vague on that point.

No worries. I think everyone who has been around long enough, certainly pre Legion, as some CCP induced issues.
Transparency would be great, but it is obvious from your post (and many other things CCP has said) that certain people at there, at least in the past, thought that wishful thinking and transparency were the same thing.

The fact that they didn't deliver is exactly why they shouldn't have said it.
As a company, it is there job to manage expectations. It is always better to under promise and over deliver than the other way around.
And while I will buy that there is a faction in EVE that wanted no connection with Dust, and that they may have had an influence, it is appears to me that the people working on the game early on simply weren't capable. From the bad coding, to putting in a connection that was so little used yet took up sp many resources in its creation that even without outside influence, Dust was doomed.
