Just because they did not scrap it does not mean they'll be releasing or even announcing a release.
Will it mentioned? Most likely. Will it be anything notable substantial? I wouldn't get your hopes up.

That wasn't surprise. We knew it a few months before. Now CCP Logibro says that the game isn't even on the shelf, so I think he is just trolling us. I'm not sure but I think he wants to surprise us in EVE FANFEST with the complete PROJECT NOVA game.

I agree. I wouldn't expect anything major about Nova even if it does get mentioned. Perhaps a round table discussion or something like that.

That was way before Rattati took over development. Also, with CCP Seagull being the Executive Producer of Eve Online and helping to coordinate the changes that Eve Online so desperately needed for a long time, Eve Online has seen a revival in interest it hasn't seen in a long time.
With the overhauling of industrial ships, introduction of player-built Citadels and Complexes, a ****-ton of other changes including the overhaul of the NPE system and tutorials, implementation of Free-To-Play with Alpha Clones, and now the introduction of Project Discovery, Eve Online has caught the attention of a lot of players.
Especially now with Project Discovery having been around for a while with the Human Protein Atlas, and now the University of Reykjavik and the University of Geneva, with the involvement of Michel Mayor (the one who discovered the first exoplanet) we are now seeing institutions taking interest in the game thanks to citizen science.
Now... if only CCP could apply that level of progress to Nova. I can be skeptical too if I wanted, but I don't want to skeptical to the point of cynicism.

I have to agree with this. It may be a bit cynical, but it's 100% true. CCP may have done, and may be doing good things for EVE, but Dust, and obviously any FPS shooter tied to CCP has never seen anywhere near the level of Dev attention/care that EVE has. That part is whatever, EVE is their money maker.
But the money grab pre-FF14, the money grab post FF14, the way Dust was killed (amazing new announcement regarding Dust at FF!!!Hype hype hype hype!!!!!.......ahhhh, gotcha!! We're killing it), the ridiculous secrecy around anything and everything. Rattati may be a nice guy, and his heart may have been/may be in the right place, but he got the captains hat after the ship had been scuttled. He was the oxygen mask that pops out after both wings fall off of a commercial airliner at 20k feet. Legion came and went, Nova is in limbo, CCP may be trying to sell, and who knows what that will mean.
Just stating the facts can make one sound cynical. But who knows, maybe it'll all work out in the long run. |

I would say, from what I know, 4 and 5 years is pretty average for a game to be developed.
Hopefully they have some blurb on what they have been working on, and next step goals.

Yeah, it's a little hard (if not impossible) to ignore that. Like I said, I don't want to be cynical. However at the same time I don't want to look like a ostrich with its head buried in the sand.

But we can't forget that CCP Shanghai now has FPS experience and they know their mistakes this time around. They know what ****** up Dust and the presentation of Legion. They have the assets as well. The difference here is that they have to rebuild the entire base code from scratch. So that alone might seem to make your case a little more likely because developing a brand new base code and ditching the old one (the infamous legacy code that partly sealed the fate of Dust) must have been a very difficult choice for them.
But everyone knew it was for the better. If Dust had any hope to emerge as Nova on the PC, it needed a new code and a new engine on a platform that CCP has over a decade working on.

IDK the sh*t posting about EVE Legion and cancellation of development on dust threads are still up if you want to dig for them. I'm pretty sure everyone was surprised. I played pretty actively back then and kept up with Dust news very much and i was surprised. More of at there way of handling the entire situation not with Dust 514 development stopping. Because i think deep, deep, deep down everyone saw that coming.

Or even a beta or demo, kid. I prefer playing at least a buggy DUST game than waiting. Time will pass faster for the release of the full game.
Waiting for Project Nova. I miss you so much DUST 514!

Well they probably will have a bit over a year worth of work done.
However you seem to forget, just because there is stuff to talk about, does not mean that CCP higher ups want them to talk about it yet. Most likely they're going to hold off until they have a near complete package before they really start releasing information. That way its much easier to say "Here is everything the game will encompass" rather than "Well this is X% of what the game will encompass" and then people go wild with speculation to what the rest will be, drum up false expectations, and then be upset when those (likely unreasonable) expectations are not met.
Keep in mind that Nova is likely in a very precarious position, and bad press/public reaction to anything they release could be lethal to the project. They're going to play this one incredibly close to the chest and not show off much till they already have it done, and they're not going to show off an incomplete project.
People have....colorful expectations already of what Nova will be. Many compare it to Dust, and honestly I think it will actually have some pretty big differences. If I was a Dev, Id want to be able to show players a compete package so they can see the big picture, rather than part of the picture and be subject to outrage because "OMG WE CANT HANDLE CHANGE!!!" rather than perhaps seeing the whole thing and thinking "Well....that's different, but seeing all of it....I get it, and I'm ok with it"

Just basing predictions off of all the available information. I think in general the project is something you should be optimistic about, but I wouldn't let your imagination run wild with expectations for Fanfest. I think you'll be happy to see something, but I wouldn't get too crazy with thoughts of Alpha or release dates.
Keep in mind that CCP is still publicly stating that this is a "Project" and not a "Game". And while I think....a lot of that is PR related and likely not entirely accurate to the actual state of the game in the eyes of the company from an internal perspective, it does speak to the fact that they're obviously not publicly going to commit to much at this stage. That being said, we're a little over a month away from Fanfest, and I don't see that stance changing drastically in that amount of time.
And a bit more on my previous post, let's consider the feedback regarding the demo. If I had to sum it up, it would be something like:
"It felt good to play, but pretty generic. We'd like to see what more it can offer and what makes it distinctively a 'CCP New Eden' game"
I think the second bit is particularly important. The next time they show off the game in detail, they absolutely need to address the "what makes it distinctively a New Eden game?". And honestly, that can be a pretty high bar to hurdle. Using EVE and an example, that is an incredibly large game in terms of depth and width. While I dont expect Nova to really come anywhere near the scope of EVE (consider thats a game over 10 years in the making) it does need to land somewhere between "COD in Space" and "EVE Online"; likely more towards the latter. That being said, they really need a complete picture to show off so people understand the depth and breadth of the game and go "Ahhh ok, I get it, it really is different from other shooters!"

Back then, when Nova was first announced and demoed, everyone here in the forums was practically ok with generic simply because we were all surprised that it had minimal lag, was operating on a Steam Client with Unreal Engine 4 while connected to a server in Germany as Dennie Fleetfoot pointed out. All of this while running very smoothly for a seemingly hectic fight.
Considering the hell we all went through with Dust 514 from closed beta to open beta all the way to its shutdown, we were far more happy with "generic but stable" rather than "different but messy."
Of course, that was a long time ago.
Now? The next time when we hear about Nova, a lot of us here no longer want to hear "generic but stable" and instead we want to hear "stable AND different." After all this time since the news, I don't want to see a generic shooter anymore.
