Alternatively, take out the cartridge and gently blow on the port before replacing the cartridge and restarting the platform.

My first console game was an NES in the shape of a keyboard... I think I was about 5.
Then after that one broke down I found an NES in the shape of a PS1, at a flea market.
I have a box full of NES cartridges, but the sound on the PS1-shaped NES broke a few years ago, so I haven't been playing it at all.
It was fun while it lasted... My favourite game was something that can only be described as Kung-Fu Soccer, I loved it because it had good music and was hilarious, you could jump in the air with the ball and super-kick it, transforming it into a shuriken, fish, sausage, or pencil, depending on the character you chose to play as. I think the game was called "Nekketsu Soccer League" or something like that.
