I've seen tons of videos mentioning mass effect, but I haven't tried it and don't know what the main gameplay is like, I was just seeing the cinematics.
Fortune is not what you seek in life, it's what you stumble upon.
I totally just pulled that one outta my arse.

Someone at work one day told me "Mass Effect" - I found the game, bought it and was immediately hooked - the scope and scale of the game, and the persistent history between the three episodes of the game really got me in. As such, each episode potentially has a different history, if you play the game again from scratch, and that's what makes it such a brilliant game - it's not really three games, it's really just one long game, delivered in three instalments.
Andromeda is a brand new game, of course. I originally heard they were "redoing" the original game, and wondered how they would add anything to it. Now to hear it's a brand new game, I'm really excited. I'll certainly be buying it. |

Yeah, I pre-ordered today. In the description it says 4-player cooperative. Hopefully that means the story and not just a survival mini-game... hopefully.

Hopefully that means the story and not just a survival mini-game... hopefully. SPOILERS JUST IN CASE. I don't know if I will pre-order it yet. ME3 left a bad memory. ok here is why. #1 no end of the game boss fight. #2 a game series that was about choose came down to 3 different color endings. blue, green or red. ok well 4 if you try to shoot the boy. #3 a step back in weapons & armor. the different types and numbers.
ME1 you could mod your weapons. hell you could mod your grenades too LOL My favorite thing was take a sniper rifle put 2 max damage mods then the explosive ammo. then let the fun begin. oh you wanted to hide behind that crate take aim at the ground just to the side of it and pull the trigger. Then watch as they went flying MWHAHAhaha that is so much fun. Then again taking an assault rifle mod it with the less weapon heat and fire all day long and no reloading LOL. Yes I know they fixed some of it with skills like fire, wrap, ice ammo etc. sued me about not putting the correct names of skills.
just don't want it to be in a step back from the others in gameplay style. graphics look good though. I want to see more of it before I pre order. I mean how many did that with No man sky and got burned. though with the last update it is better somewhat.

Ever play the old Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? It's like that.
Third person linear (more or less) autorail type of game. I never finished it. Was slow and fights felt more like a spectator thing than playing a game. Just IMO.
What is your name? - lie and tell him to stuff it. - lie and shoot him. - tell him your name.
(are you sure you want to lie?) Really, now? Are you absolutely sure?
eh. i made that dialogue up. but I remember it being as generic. I never understood the love. just not for me.

I was able to pick up the trilogy on sale a couple years ago and really liked it. ME2 was the best of the series in terms of storytelling, and I didn't have as many problems with the end of ME3 as some people did.

Bioware released a major update for free which expanded on the ending quite a bit and addressed most concerns. That's probably the version you played. Bioware was forced by EA to rush to game and ending didn't get the attention they intended initially

Haven't you ever heard it's about the journey, not the destination? Mass Effect is some of the best gaming anyone will ever play from start to finish, and you're gonna let the last 5 minutes spoil that for you?
All your choices matter along the way.
Honestly, the ME3 ending hate became such bandwagon, and Bioware addressed it by giving everybody the 'Extended Cut Ending' for FREE! Nobody wants to admit it's fixed simply because hating the ending is the cool thing to do.

I wouldn't worry about that. Bioware has a great history, and a legacy-name they don't want tarnished. What I take as a good sign is the pre-order stuff is strictly cosmetic and there's no season pass. Publishers + MS + Sony always push Dev's to put as much micro-transaction and pre-order crap into games as possible. The fact that there isn't much DLC at this point means Bioware isn't bowing to the publishers, who always ruin games. Look at the steady improvement in the original trilogy as well. They learned from each game and made the next one better across the board. I'm confident Andromeda is going to be great! I'm calling it: Game of the Year!
True i enjoyed the game up until the end. i was pissed since the ending only half way done & seemed rushed. the extended bit helped a lot. Still no boss fight WTF?! i want the weapon mods of ME1, story telling of ME2, skills/abilities of ME3 and the fun of the whole series. LOL though that is a tall order to fill. Bioware is a great company but EA has their hands in it. I hope EA don't push Bioware too much and the game takes the hit.

The one game I've pre-ordered in my life was Ratchet and Clank Collection for the PS3. I was disappointed. Music didn't loop correctly, Ratchet's helmet was too big for his head, it was a mess.
Never again would I pre-order.

I almost never pre-order any game. The only time I did was for Uncharted 3. But I would consider buying Mass Effect: Andromeda if I had bought a PS4 and the game earns good reviews.
