I literally went comatose playing the tutorial. it felt incredibly boring for me, not that I would hate the PVP or pve or whatever, the entire game was just too slow and uninterative to keep me from falling asleep. the game requires so little interaction that it almost feels like it plays itself, like one of those idle games. I really tried to like the game, i did. none of the gameplay appeal to me, except maybe for trading. but as much as people praise the "economy" part of the game, I feel like it was quite inferior to other alternatives out there. the trading is either a 0.01 isk torcher simulator, boring and annoying the **** out of you, making you rage quit, or you just play the game for five minutes and check up on your orders 5 hours later. and the nature of how the game plays almost like a MUD with some graphics, leaves me comatose and bored of the rest of the game. I've played turn based games that seem to have more interaction than this game.
though I am an action junkie, I can play games that are not action, like civ 5. EVE ONLINE just seemed waaay to brain dead for me. I feel like DUST 514 and even EVE VALKYRIE is a far superior game in my honest opinion. some people might be different, you know different strokes for different folks, but I can't like eve online, like ever. I think a first person space game in the eve universe would be more appealing to me, and dust 514 kinda did that for me. I kinda like eve online lore, but that's probably all I like about it, if I want good lore, I watch a good sci-fi movie. EVE ONLINE would be a good movie. Being an action junkie and going comatose in the tutorial is completely understandable.
If you want action, you have to join a null or losec corp that's in an alliance with lots of wars. You'll see action. Hisec, PvE, you'll fall asleep unless you get a high enough standing with your corporation to be running level 3 and 4 missions. |

I have played games that make eve online's "risk" look like a joke. even then, the stupid "bleakness" feature that they use to advertise the game (and it works apparently) doesn't change the fact its just a brain dead MUD that somehow managed to survive this long, though the power of NICHE. the fact that I have to physically look for combat, and fly out of a "safe zone" is proof enough that the "bleakness" that they advertise is a bunch of junk. wow, I have to pay pretend money to replace ships, wow, no other game has done that. WOW, I lose progress when I die, no other game ever has ever done that. pfft. EvE exists in the same way any other society exists - there are safe zones (hisec, with security decreasing from 1 to 0.5), dangerous zones (systems with losec from 0.4 to 0.1) and then there's nullsec. You don't just "fly out" of "safe zones", you MOVE to lo or null and LIVE there. It's plenty risky enough. |
