I seem to encounter them less frequently,  anyone else feel the same?

503 Service Unavailable errors, this means PHP processes are crashing while executing a script. As a result, Apache is not getting a valid response from PHP and considers the PHP-FPM service to be unavailable.
Either that or your memory - cpu is maxed out and needs flushing.
Sounds like you simply had a buggy third party extension or an out of date plugin - app.
I see nothing to be excited about people.
