Kinda stopped going on EVE as much lately... I started playing Station Trader Online and made about 10 mil ISK, but my god it's boring. I tried being a pirate before that but I got #shrekt.
How do I make EVE fun without just being another cog in a corp's machine? How do I personalise EVE to get the most fun?

Though upon further inspection of ship aesthetics, I am inclined to start an Amarr account. They're just so pleasing to look at. although i started Amarr myself and they are still my favorite ship class to fly. Just from my look at the skills and ships they have for alpha's i'd recommend staying gal your in better hands there as far as alpha's go. Gallente is phenomenal in EvE. I have a Gallente pilot with only about 75% the skills (in Gallente) as my EvE Main (a Caldari) and can do amazing things in an Enyo (Gallente Assault Frigate)

But in all honesty the difference is not super large. You can still provide a good support role in a fleet no matter what race you pick. They all have their merits. If you already made an account i would not go back and make a new one. It's really not that big of a difference. If you join a large and organized corp they will find a role for you no matter what race you picked. I cannot stress this enough but join a corp asap. No what race you start with (and the ships and gear you have at your disposal) is not all that important. What IS vitally important is learning how to use those ships, gear and skills best for that race. A Caldari for instance will generally kite, stay as close to maximum range for their weapons (missiles and long range rail-guns) as possible, to stay out of range of the enemy's weapons. That's in line with their lighter, shield-based tank. A Gallente, however, relies on the heavy use of drones and the most powerful weapon in the game, which is their specialty, blasters. Trying to use a Gallente fitting for long range is pointless because the blasters, though powerful are short range, like the AR. Caldari however use rail guns which are much more long range, like the RR or the sniper rifle. |

I would think based on the way most Dusters seem to think about fighting, the best role for a typical Duster would be a pirate or a ganker of some sort. Dusters always want to be out shooting someone, killing someone, winning by obliterating someone. If you want to do that, the best place to do so without being beholden to a player corp is in pirating or ganking. Even those often are done within the bounds of a corp, but at least you're out there blowing pilots away. :) |

There are many small corps that are just looking for fights and have fun not conquer new eden with 1000's of players.
You just need to find the right corp that suits what you are looking for.
What corp are you currently in that is making you feel like that?
