Can do! (Sorta)
There is actually a way for you to see yourself in-game. Here is a simple image tutorial on how to get there.
On the left hand side of your neocom you should see a image like that and it should say ship tree when you hover your mouse over it.

When you click on it at the top right it will allow you to look at the ship for each race. Click on Gallente to check Gallente ships.

You will then see something like this. Everything before the golden Omega sign is what Alpha clones can fly. You can click on each ship from this tree and it will show you how what skills you need to train to fly it.

If you find a ship you like and are confused about what skills to train. Go to ship mastery on the ship you want to fly and start hammering our skills for mastery lvl 1 then 2, and some forth.

If you don't know how to fit a ship i can not stress this enough but, join a corporation many of the ones i listed above are alpha clone ready and will have ship fits ready for you and will help you out. Most of them a corps made purposefully for new players so very low commitment and you can leave anytime you want if you don't like the corp.

From what I can see, a fully trained Alpha clone should be able to do just about anything you need for normal combat. You'll need a subscription and omega clones to train other races and higher level ships and weapons, but alpha clone training should be fine for beginners. |

EVE is so much fun. Extremely complicated at first, but the depth is part of what makes it so much fun. Atm I'm just running the career missions. I'm particularly enjoying the exploration and industry missions, so that might be what makes up the bulk of what I do in EVE.

Depending on how much sp you have and how well you know the game might be more beneficial to just start a new account or char and go through the tutorial itself. heard it's a lot better at explaining the game now.

although i started Amarr myself and they are still my favorite ship class to fly. Just from my look at the skills and ships they have for alpha's i'd recommend staying gal your in better hands there as far as alpha's go.

3. Min
4. Amarr
But in all honesty the difference is not super large. You can still provide a good support role in a fleet no matter what race you pick. They all have their merits. If you already made an account i would not go back and make a new one. It's really not that big of a difference. If you join a large and organized corp they will find a role for you no matter what race you picked. I cannot stress this enough but join a corp asap.
