I'm sure there is an industry term for this but, I also want "more stuff to do". Shooting people is nice, but I want to have a social space with my corp, I want to craft ****, I want to go wander around a derelict capital ship looking for salvage, etc. All of this stuff will not be at launch, but it is what I want. I liked the Salvage Grounds concept they had for Legion. I hope they include something like that in Nova.
It has the ingredients for Open World PVP: - Putting potentially hostile players in the same environment to collect a limited resource. - Ability to kill a player and loot most of the resource they have collected (with a % loss in the transaction). - You are not safe from loosing what you collected until you have deposited it at an extraction site.
Purpose for Vehicles: - Limit carrying capacity of the dropsuit, so a vehicle is needed to carry larger amounts of the resource. - AV and AV Vehicles (Tanks) useful in destroying vehicles to loot the wrecks. (~10 to 30% resource loss in explosions.) - AV and AV Vehicles (Tanks) useful in defending resource transport vehicles.
Open World PVE: - Rogue Drones with varying levels of aggression (depending on what part of space you are in) also scavenging for resources and may attack if they identify you as competition (if you harvest resources while they are close). - Ability to kill a Rogue Drone and loot for the resources. Bigger Drones have more stuff.
Now although I like the idea of scavenging for salvage on an old battlefield, I also really enjoy the component of using heat maps to find concentrations of specific resources in Planetary Interaction in EVE. I would really enjoy a mining component in Nova where you activate a piece of mining equipment which will overlay a heat map over the terrain so you can wonder around looking for a high concentration of a mineral. Then when you find a good spot you set down a robotic miner which will extract the mineral and form it into bars, which you can then take to the extraction site. You can have several robotic miners operating at one time, but you need to defend them against Rogue Drones and other players who might steal your mineral bars, or damage your robotic miner.
- The mineral distribution would be procedural generated. - Rogue Drones may be attracted to mineral concentrations.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.
