While I agree about not spending money, "how games are supposed to be played" is subjective. A subscription helps to weed out the players who aren't committed to the game, and also helps to maintain an active update cycle since money is always flowing in. They're two different approaches to gaming, it just depends on what you're looking to get out of the game. DUST Fiend makes a very good point. A Game that you pay for once and its yours is a game that does not change. I don't play games like that for the most part. I play games where I can play with the same people for years, but for such games to not become deathly boring, they need to evolve and change to provide me with new experiences. For a game to evolve you need to have Developers and most Developers don't work for free, so an evolving game requires ongoing funding in some form. Precisely. Players may complain about monetization methods in free-to-play games, but the truth of the matter is that if they don't have some form the game can't stay online.
In answer to the OP, I wouldn't pay to play Dust because I'd much rather play what it was SUPPOSED to be for free when it launches.

What about you peepz?
I have this gut feeling if Nova comes out there is going to be a re occurring fee similar to EVE. In a heartbeat This Why, though? Just to have a game to play on PS3? Why not save up for a computer than can run Nova instead of dumping money into a sub-par PS3 free-to-play game?
I think it's highly unlikely that they'll go pay-to-play for Nova, and even less likely that they'd charge a subscription.

I would pay extortionately to have DUST again. To me it was 11/10. I prefer to keep on my rose tinted glasses, it wouldn't be the same if they just opened up the servers again Just waiting on that Nova alpha Same here. I'm hoping they have a trailer for EVE: Vegas and another playable demo at FanFest next year.

I'm hoping for more news soon, but doesn't look like it will be in October. I mean during the Keynote, like they did at FanFest.
