There were only 2 heavy weapons in DUST; the Heavy Machine Gun (infantry) and the Forge Gun (anti-vehicle). As there are no vehicles planned to be in Project Nova for quite some time, what is the likelihood Project Nova will only have one heavy weapon? I hope not very likely but only CCP knows for sure. I guess CCP Shanghai could tweak the Forge gun for less overall damage and charge time but bigger splash radius to make it more anti-infantry based. In any case, I am really hoping for factional parity (at least one heavy weapon per faction) for heavy weapons in Project Nova. Beyond a Heavy Machine Gun and the previously discussed Heavy Laser, what other plausible heavy weapons are there that CCP Shanghai could consider?
Speaking of Heavy Laser, it would be sweet if the only differences between Laser Rifle in DUST 514 was it took time to charge up and the accued use would slowly caused damage until it overheated and fried the user. A Heavy Laser would be sweet especially if there were certain surfaces it could reflect off of.

DUST Fiend wrote:Much of the Heavies purpose will be obliterated without vehicles and will land it firmly in the "I need more HP to shoot you" category. I hope not. Heavies could serve an important role if done correctly. BTW, speaking of heavies, does anyone know if Commandos are going to be in Project Nova? I don't remember seeing any used in the past Fanfest video; just Sentinels. Near the end of DUST, I played most Commando in Pubs but never saw many Commandos in PC. They were fun as could use two medium weapons but just didn't have the HP for a serious fight.

The Forge may survive. Who knows (besides CCP)? There may be devices/structures that may need to be destroyed during play where REs and Forges would be very helpful. I am hoping so from what Logicloop has been saying about his maps:
Quote:We certainly don't want the environment to be stale. That is what's so great about the barely anything we hear from CCP; it's so vague that it's left open to a wide interpretation.
