Very tensed, because next year I am going to graduate from high School. Until then I have to Control my urge to think about Dust 514 and Project Nova 24/7. May everyone of us reach their aims in life and fulfill their dreams. So you're a junior right now? So am I. Been tensed up with AP classes. SAT/Asvab/ACT (joining navy, don't really need asvab cuz I'm trying to go academy but why not) Hats off to you Lightning . The American / Cannadian Education System seems to be far more advanced than the one from Germany. Here in Germany there are exams that are similar to your SAT and ACT, which are necassary in order to have your School Completation degree : the Abitur Hope we both will do our best and pass with great marks
I believe the German system is pretty good compared to the rest of the world concerning any kind of secondary / tertiary degree. I guess the only other system that might be better for students is the Scottish education system.
The german Abitur is the equivalent of the spanish bachillerato, the italian diploma di maturit+á, the french Baccalaur+¬at. I don't mean to be disrespectful towards the american education system, but honestly the SAT/ACT is a joke compared to some of the european standards.
Moreover if you ever decide to go to university, German university system must be some kind of heaven for americans (and actually for many other Europeans): in fact, unless you absolutely decide you want to go to top tier university (which are located in USA), German and Scottish universities offer probably the best deal worldwide.
Both of them are basically free (as far as I know, the German university costs an average of a couple hundreds Euros per semester for everyone, while the Scottish university is completely free for Scots -used to be free for any EU citizen-) while offering a very high level of education (the University of Edimburgh, Universit+ñt Heidelberg, just to name a couple).
All this just to say that you should be much prouder of Germany and what it has been able to achieve concerning education and social rights.
Signed, a soon-to-be Technische Hochschule student
And yes, in case you were wondering, I'm not German.

Hehe, that's also pretty true, at least for what concerns the italians being in awe of germany. In our collective imagination Italy and Germany has always been closely tied one another for some reason, being it rivalry or close friendship. Many italians sees Germany as the utopia-state they always wanted Italy to be

I'm Italian! and I'm still working on my German...it's pretty difficult compared to english Thats no big deal. Fortunataly nearly everyone in Germany understands English. The only trouble there is with the german Language are the articles for nouns. The rest of the grammar like tenses have a regular structure, but take time to be mastered. By the way, which Hochschule are you going to be attending? I'm just curios
TH K+¦ln. I've already been in Germany for a while, in Nordrhein-Westfalen (precisely in Remscheid and Eschweiler), and decided to go there since I'm already familiar with the place (and I actually loved the place to be honest). Also, TH K+¦ln offers a game design bachelor degree and master degree which I'm very interested in, and in case I don't pass the entrance exam I'll just go to a computer science course there.

On a side note, even tho I don't really "need" to learn German since, as you already said, almost anyone in Germany speaks English, I wouldn't really like to be considered the typical italian "Ausl+ñnder" , moreover I strongly believe that the best way to make new friends is to speak in their native language and adopt the language and culture of the country you're in True words man. I for my part live in Hessen near Frankfurt am Main.
Oh, I've been in Frankfurt! it's the second best skyline I've ever seen. London being first-
