With the activation of Alpha/Omega clones in November will/can our Dust Mercs be converted to Alpha clones?

No. If you want to have Eve character with the same name as you have here you need to petition it to CCP(on eve side) and prove it is yours, and maybe they will allow you to have the same name.

Yes, it would be nice to keep names and employment history
With the new clone states I would expect EVE characters to be able to learn merc skills (if Nova gets the greenlight)

HIGHLY.
They've spent a lot of time building design and story around the idea that "Merc" tech is entirely different from Capsuleer tech, and both are very different from Valkyrie tech. I realize that Hilmar said something about an "EVE Universe" concept where all 3 games have one interface and you use one character for all of them, but notice how while he mentioned that in 2014, it was completely absent from 2015 and 2016.

I think you're right. I hate to say it but while the concept of being able to use the same character in any of the games may be attractive and certainly doable, it would not be the same cash cow that CCP wants - if we could use the one account in any of the games, then we would effectively reduce the amount of real world money we would be paying to CCP compared with one account in each of the games.
They could fix that, obviously, by changing the payment model - something like giving you the option to pay to upgrade the Alpha clone in just one game, which means they would still have the same cash flow if people decided to upgrade their Alpha clone in each game they wanted to progress in. So I think the possibility is still there, and Alpha clones would certainly be the means by which they did it.
Whether they do it or not is in doubt. This is CCP, after all, so logical doesn't necessarily cut it. |

I think trying to keep DUST names would prove more trouble than it's worth especially as not every DUST character will move over to Project Nova. Project Nova will be a new game and we should embrace it as such. If you want something more from DUST. you can admire the suit designs and other stuff that CCP transferred over.

Trust me, keeping characters is not going to require undue effort on CCP's part. The fact that we're still posting here with these names is proof we're keeping our characters.
I don't know if you've ever gone on the EVE Online Forums and tried to sign in after first signing in here and checking the "Remember Me" box, but if you do it'll ask you to first sign out of your Dust 514 account because the character database uses a single-signon feature.

My reasoning behind it is that I would like the warbarge to be a physical entity piloted by either Nova or Eve players and used for FW/sov
