I will pay you, CCP, $19.99 for a six month subscription to play DUST 514...and I'll renew every six months.
...and I'm sure many others would as well.
Would it be completely "impossible" to turn back on the servers and continue Dust 514 as it was at the moment of shutdown?
People were, honestly, awfully spoiled to have had 4 years of DUST 514 for nothing-- I played from 2012 to the end in 2016 for FREE!
If you want it back, it's time to pay up.
Could adequate funds be generated through the fan base for CCP to maintain this?
Is a model like this even attainable/ feasible? |

I'm desperate enough to support this. All games for some reason pale in comparison in regards to making you feel satisfied while playing.

The simple fact is that whatever was necessary to run the backend for Dust 514 is most likely long gone. Don't forget that when Project Nova is brought online, it'll be running on what used to be the hardware for Dust 514 unless it isn't already being used for that, which is honestly quite likely.
I'm not trying to trivialize what you or anyone else who makes these threads is feeling, because I feel EXACTLY the same way. I see all these shooters on the horizon and even an MMO or two but none of them give me the feeling of being on the ground in New Eden that I came to crave in Dust. More than anything I want CCP Shanghai to show up to EVE Vegas with another playable demo of Project Nova so we can get some more footage recorded and up on YouTube so we can see the changes they've made.
My dream would be for them to have some kind of official presentation with an Alpha start date, but I'm going to keep that locked up deep in my heart where it won't take over my emotions and leave me crushed when it doesn't happen.

Now don't get me wrong but all the other games available right now do not have what DUST 514 had the skill progression the vehicles the suit customization nothing on pc Xbox one or ps4 come even close I would pay 20 bucks a month to play DUST 514 HELL YEAH.

And it was on many other levels deeply flawed and generally not a terribly polished game. In many ways I found MAG to be far superior to DUST and it too was eventually shut down. Just because a game has many elements that are superior to other games has not prevented me from enjoying other games that are inferior in some ways and superior in others. The point is that there are plenty of other experiences that offer new and positive experiences, and quite honestly i would rather spend my money on a more modern game that may not be able to deliver on all the positives DUST had to offer, is still a enjoyable and in some ways, a superior experience.

Paying a subscription would be a good idea for those of us that are that desperate to play Dust again, but, think about it. Would a subscription fee bring thousands of dust bunnies back to the game? I would highly doubt it. It was a F2P game in the first place, so why pay for the same old thing with no improvement?
I miss the game too from time to time but like many good games over the years, it's dead. Gone. Finished. We all just have to accept that & move on. Who knows what the future holds in gaming. When MAG ceased, Dust was my FPS multiplayer fix. Maybe something else will come out in a few years that proves to be way better than either of the aforementioned games. |

I too would pay for a DUST subscription (even though it would probably be pointless because not enough other people would get subscriptions; you know those blueberries were actually other players, not bots, right?)
However, I don't think that funding was the reason why CCP shut DUST down.

See I've never had to move on from anything... D too good so it keeps them around so a break up just doesn't register in my brain.

If not, my advice to OP:
Stand on a street corner for several weeks with a sign no one will read, buy a PS4 with proceeds from street corner, and play a different F2P game on PS4 such as WoT, War Thunder, or Hawken. You're welcome.
