You will only be able to train basic skills for your faction as an Alpha clone. That will allow a heap of new players to experience EvE on at least three different factions, more if they set up additional (free) accounts. You will need to subscribe to access all skills as an Omega clone, exactly as a full subscription works today. This will give anyone who wants to try EvE the ability to do so, anyone who wants to just use basic faction skills without the need for subscription to do so, and anyone who wants the full experience to subscribe and do so. How will this kill EvE as we know it, which is basicly the fully subscribed Omega clone? Surely this Omega clone experience is "EvE as we know it", and won't change, as far as I can see... Okey, I say why I think so.
Let's think about who is putting dolar in to the CCP pocked for a second - It's people who pays subscription, and those who do that plus buy some plexes from CCP to sell them on market for ISK(to buy titan). That is basic, there are also others sources of dollars(t-shorts, books, aurum, ff etc.) but they are less important then this. Beside, if people would not be active subscribers they would not buying this stuff. So those people are paying CCP employments salary.
With increased numbers of players, CCP will have to employ more people to maintain the same level of services, but they will not have extra money for it so instead they will have to drop quality of it instead. Like with Dust and bugs reports that end up in some misterium box that no one ever open. Well, it is more like last stage of dealing with the problem. I think they will try to extend link between player that have problem and CCP employ that can solve it. So that player will have to deal with FAQ pages, forums, other players opinions and if he will not get answer he may ask GM, and wait for answer a couple of days. The more AC players we will have with problems, the longer queue will be to solve it.
Another subject. Current game mechanic allows players to play it in order to pay for it - if you gone buy plex from other player, you may use it to extend your sub. by 30 days - new trial players are able to do it if they find them self in right circumstances. If players will have no time limitation on buying plex, and there will be much more players that want to buy one, price of them will go up - meaning that person who bought them from CCP will get more ISK for even less quantity of dollars. But CCP is smart, and they will not allow this, right? They already stated(somewhere) that they will not control market. With is scary, because instead of controlling market prices they may remain in-control by adjusting item itself instead, or other items that are required to build it. So that person with 'plenty of dollars' will have to spend them any ways, because item will be more durable for example. In fact, I would not be surprised if they would already done it with Citadel expansion. It may lead to conclusion that it is some how not-cool, but at the same point it is 'good' for us all(a good accent at the end of post).
