It won't be til later on in the year (November) but EVE is getting a limited F2P option. Still not really my cup of tea but I figured this would interest a number of you here.

That said, I've had no intention on going back to EVE at all, but I might float around and take some pics once it's free.

FPS with subscription basically doesn't exist, and probably never will. Also last we heard skills were being revisited and looked like they were being turned into something closer to an unlock system.
Basically this model wouldn't possibly work in Nova, and will likely just be F2P with boosters and the like.

If CCP puts a subscription on Nova I will have a field day.
An absolute field day.

An absolute field day. This is CCP you know... Honestly though even if they don't lock content behind a sub wall, ai could see them having a sub option that basically comes with perks you can otherwise buy ala carte Wooo pay creep, everyones favorite balance destroyer!
F2P is tough if you don't have much market for cosmetic things. Basically in an FPS they pretty much have to give you a direct advantage of some kind. Boosters were clever because it sort of absorbed the brunt of that advantage by spreading it out, but the simple fact is a boosted character has more advantage than a non boosted one. Not through direct 1 to 1 advantage, but through versatility. This again was absorbed later on as more people had a build or two fleshed out, so it became less apparent to the average player.
I've accepted that Nova is likely going to **** me off on many fronts, but if they manage to introduce clear P2W I will lose my raisins.

Is that "We" Dust players or "We" EvE players, and why are we "dead" - just what about this change to EvE is causing you to think this is "the end"? There is only one positive thing: 1. F2P shooter can not be integrated into existing EVE model. 2. Shooter without integration is absolutely uninteresting. 3. Perhaps the integration will be possible on the basis of a new EVE model. If you're holding out for EVE connection with Nova you should probably take a walk to your nearest Biomass facility.
It will be far more satisfying.

One Eyed King wrote:In some ways Fanfest 14 and Legion were a blessing in disguise because the previous team on Dust was awful, and the Legion disaster forced their ouster to get someone like Rattati on board to point things in the right direction. That's still kind of subjective though. I mean yes Rattati put in a good effort but it didn't change that CCP essentially abandoned the IP. I've been doing a good job of keeping my trap shut about Nova until it's actually on my PC for me to properly test, but lately I can't help but feel that Nova will end up being another Legion and WoD. I feel like they took their focus off of this IP a long time ago, and Nova is just a way to keep us hooked in the same way that Legion was.
I'll likely be proven wrong, but them WoD feels tho

100% This. Everyone crying "Without EVE Integration, it wont be a good as Dust!"
What freaking EVE integration? Was it the orbitals that were barely used and ultimately made nearly obsolete due to the WP barge strikes? Or was it the FacWar that was only a 1 way integration where the only effect was on EVE and did nothing to alter the gameplay in Dust?
To be fair a lot of people came for the supposed / potential integration and stayed because they figured it was going to be a persistent experience and it would be built upon.
Later on when it was obvious that was never going to come, you also saw a general bleeding of new players. People could see that the game was poorly coded and with no higher purpose to the game, they just left. Many vets just stayed because they got used to it and grew to like the gameplay despite the total lack of connection.
