I am looking for some recommendation for PC FPS game titles that are either F2P or under 20U$D, as I am pretty sure there might be a few that I missed when looking by myself, so advice from some more experienced gamers would be nice.
Preferably with a corp/clan aspect, would be nice to migrate with a few corpmates to the game.
A small description of the game would be appreciated to, as I intend to list all the recommended games into one list, in case I'm not the only one looking for a new universe.

Heard some good things for Dirty Bomb, not so much from Team Fortress 2 and Heroes and Generals. CS:GO also seems to be quite worth it as long you don't drag yourself into the skins and have a mic.
Insurgency is where I'm at right now and it's been dropped to $9.99 and they've just added a WW2 mod(Day of Infamy) stand alone.
Here's a funny review taken for Steam-
Pros:
You can ADS (unlike CS:GO)
You can run (unlike CS:GO)
Big maps (unlike CS:GO)
Good community (unlike CS:GO)
HardCore (unlike COD)
Fun (unlike COD)
Cheap(unlike COD)
Realistic (unlike CS:GO & COD)
Allauh Akbar yelled every 10 seconds (unlike CS:GO and cod)
Cons:
No cons yet (unlike CS:GO and COD)
There's also this old standalone mod for BF2 called Project Reality(free), haven't played it yet but the community is great and there's a lot of teamwork and vehicle play throughout the game. There's currently early access for the successor on Steam called Squad for $39.99, I would keep an eye on that till it's reached release.

Another suggestion for Overwatch. Considering how Blizzard has done their microtransactions, I am willing to believe them 100% that all you will ever need to do is buy the base game. All microtransactions are entirely cosmetic and have no affect on gameplay. There also won't be any DLC for new Heroes, gamemodes, or maps. Game is good, damn good.
For the F2P, I really love Fistful of Frags. You can get it on Steam. No cosmetics, nothing you can spend money on; a truly free game. Western FPS, so the guns are generally slow firing and inaccurate but it is such a nice change of pace if you have played other twitch, CoD-esque FPS's.
I mention these two in particular as I like a different kind of FPS. For me, FPS can become so damn similar that I like ones that have a really different take. DUST, Overwatch, and Fistful of Frags are the three that really pop out for being different while still being quite good on their own. Until the recent update with TF2, I would have suggested that as well but the update has really made the game worse.

Planetside 2 is F2P and FPS.
It was kind of bland and boring to me, but it fits your description.
Or save up for Battlefield 1. That game is looking very intriguing.
Non FPS games, you may want to try Rocket League. It is fantastic, and inexpensive.
Otherwise, I would concur that spending on Overwatch would be a worthwhile investment.

Rainbow Six Siege was on sale for $20 on Steam not long ago, could happen again. I'd definitely get that, hands down one of the best multiplayer FPS games out there. It's 5v5 with one team attacking and one team defending, in unranked matches it's the first to three round wins, after each round the teams swap roles, the defenders get time to prepare defenses and such while the attackers use drones to scope the place out. It plays like a much slower placed search and destroy from CoD, you only have one life per round and headshots are one hit kills. It also has destructible enviroments which acts as more than just a gimmick.
It's not got a lot of content, but Ubisoft are releasing the map packs and characters for free, and the game is definitely addictive enough to the point where you won't really notice, they have also updated the anti cheat so it's much more effective at catching hackers. |
