As Much as we want them to, It isnt a possibility anymore. Would you have the developers work on Project NOVA, or maintain servers for a game only available on an outdated platform with a limited userbase? Pretty easy choice. The game was largely unplayable at the end due to balance issues, lag, and framerate drops.

If they brought it back in the capacity they said, (Not requiring any staff) bear bone Public matches, that doesn't take away for what ever they want to do with Nova. If you didn't enjoy your matches then it was okay for you to stop playing, I enjoyed my matches, and rarely had an issue getting in to play. Even at the end, I was still going nuts in public matches. The only lag I suffered was at the bridge stage, and that was only if I strayed too close to the left hand city with a vehicle. I'd rather have something to keep my skills fresh for Nova, and to be able to use my Thousands of bucks in stuff, (Half dead Zombie of not. because I KNOW New players with no money will still jump at the chance to putt around a game that is free. Die-hards like myself would still be playing. Heck even you nay-sayers would STILL be playing if it were still up. Why else would you STILL be on a "dead game"'s forum? |

Actually no I wouldn't. I'm on these forums because while the community is literally made of salt, I've grown attached to them. Not everyone is on Skype/Discord and I still like to banter back and forth with them (DUST Fiend is a perfect example, you lovable ****) so the forums are a good medium for that.
As for the game itself, I prefer to spend my time on games that actually run properly....novel idea I know.

Pokey, logic dictates that because you have grown accustomed to a boring Forum, (and forums, ALL forums are boring compared to an actual video-game) that you would play Dust itself, for nothing else than to enjoy the salt of hate-mail generated from stomping enemies. Assuming you were good enough to actually accomplish this and not just one of those unwashed nerdy mouth-breathing, 35 year old, basement dwelling trolls that have no life and no reason to get up in the morning other than post on a forum... And I have met a few in my life time..... "Bleck" (Deo, is for B.O.) Anywho most people accept a loaner pinto if their Corvette was in the shop. |

No actually I play games that run properly, Im here because its the only place to find certain people, and because it's likely a place where news of the new game will be posted. Plus why would I settle for a Pinto when I can get a better car somewhere else while I wait for the Corvette? Your analogy is weak I'm afraid.
FYI no need to worry about me, I'm neither 35 nor a basement dweller. I mostly get up in the morning to go to work... Im a designer at a solar power company, pretty cool stuff. After work I tend to get dinner with my girlfriend and then head out to do stuff in town or just settle in for some gaming together before bed. Forum posting usually happens when Im taking a **** honestly.

The analogy is sound for a collector and anyone else blessed to happen upon a 60's Pinto. Your comprehension of it is weak. A pinto represents "vintage" classic run of the mill cars at it's finest, these cars are generally jam-packed with so much love and money they are rather to be parked in a living room than see a street. My analogy was based on life exp. We had a choice pay a deductible at a rental shop, or putt around in the dealers replacement for free. It even had a full tank of gas. Corvette's are an expensive car to maintain, filling ours costs us more than the 50 dollar deductible. So of coarse we took the freebee. (We later bought that little bugger for pennies, had the original engine drained, mounted in the garage, and "Monster"ed the chassis. Call us when Solar can put out 550hp and doesn't cost as much as a B2 to apply practically. I hear y'all are getting closer.)
Monster'ed or not, 99.8 people would GLADLY accept something totally free while they wait for the main coarse. Especially people who lost money with the closing. If you arn't one, your just not hard-core enough. Nothing wrong with that, no shame, no humiliation, I won't judge ya..... "Whisper" to your face. AHEM..... Uh..... Mm.... |

IMO, the Dust servers should still be online. Or at least until the end of 2016. For a few simple reasons.
1) It was free-to-play. Easy for new players to join each day & that was exactly what was happening.
2) The 2k or so hardcore fans. They were the reason for any success the game had. They deserved to be left with a game to play until Nova. Which brings me to....
3) Nova has not been greenlit. All we have seen is a demo. If it gets canned, then the loyal fans are left with no game at all. It would surely have made more sense to confirm Nova is definitely going to be released & allow everyone to continue playing Dust until nearer to Novas launch.
For me, I liked Dust. It was a decent game. Especially as it was free. But life & gaming life goes on. I am currently trying to clear a massive backlog of games in my collection. But without Dust, my interest in Nova fades each day. I have only logged into the forums in the past week or so again to see if there are any further developments. Alas there are none. So this could be one of many loyal Dusters who won't be around in Nova due to no longer having any interest in the game. |

Actually we offer leasing options that will 100% offset your electric use and cost less than your existing bill, so it's instant savings.

That is neat, I have read up on it and the over all cost is like buying a new car, sure it makes things better for the time being, but the debt you wind up signing on for almost costs as much as your light bill for the next 50 years. So it almost breaks even.
That aside, look at how many views this thread got in so little time. Over 300 souls still occupy this forum, and I am willing to bet at least 90% of them would be playing if you turned it on. You didn't even have to tax the system with trying to remember progress. Just let it fully reboot with each shut down, that way, no more serious errors. Hands free maintenance.
LET US PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean I am sure you all could use lunch money, right?
Also, you're welcome Abd. Muz. See? Don't you want to show off those Paint-jobs some more? Hahaha! |

Yeah, I love this quote from Rattati: You should probably know by now that we have plenty of ambition, just want to do the right things in the right order.
Isn't the right order 1. release a new game, 2. retire old game.
or I would also accept this 1. keep servers on for 10 years as promised when game debuted, 2. turn off servers.
Oh well. C'est la vie. |

I can't understand why they can't just turn the servers back on. Don't do DUST development, don't do in-game purchases, don't do support ticket support (even though this wouldn't detract from Nova development at all), don't do hotfixes or new maps. Just turn the servers on and then leave them. If issues start emerging, whatever, let them be.
