Literally my favorite PS1 game of all time. The first was great but hot **** they nailed the sequel perfectly. Damn I miss that game something fierce. It has been on a list of great games many times, and I had played Suikoden III and liked it. I saw it was on sale months ago and got it.
Been trying to get through a gaming back log, and finally got to it.
The game took awhile to get used to, mainly from the standpoint of being a PS1 game, but after a few hours I have acclimated, and am really enjoying it. Parts of it haven't aged well, but compared to many other older games I have played, it is still standing strong. Thankfully, it is not one of the JRPGs that really force you to grind (which is what I have the hardest time with when playing classic games).
One thing that is funny to see is how incredibly story driven it is, which I think is reflected in the games of the time. Too much emphasis is on graphics, environment size, and multiplayer etc, and too many modern games lose the narrative as a result (Fallout 4, Destiny et al).
Glad to be playing a game that gets it right, even if it is old as hell.

( I just wanted to list some titels in order to discuss about them with you guys ) @ One Eyed King your post was great! I really like FFVII, but I don't know that the FF games have aged as well (maybe Tactics, which I still need to play). I think that FFVII was important for its time, in graphics, soundtrack, and emotional story telling. Plus, I remember that it's language was more corse than anything else at that time had been.
I really hope that the remake holds to the standard, but I doubt it given SquareEnix's track record. The latest Star Ocean got poor reviews, and Star Ocean II was another favorite game of mine from that era.
PS1 had tons of great games. But maybe that is also because we hype up games to a level that they can't possibly expect to live up to.
