It shouldn't and it won't happen. You see what happened to Legion?
CCP said it was only a project, and there is even a chance it might not be completed. They don't want Legion all over again where everyone was hyped and excited only for it to be abandoned. CCP won't do that again. (Hopefully). Once they actually have a semi final product to launch with updates, they may start to hype it. But for now, it's best to leave them alone, let them work on it, and hope for the best.

I must agree with the above posters. Hype is not a good thing right now. We don't even have a vaguely certain alpha start date yet. Maybe once the alpha has been launched they can begin to do interviews with gaming press, but until then it's best to just keep their heads down and work.
The last thing we want is undue hype built up then the game not even make it to alpha.
My advice to you, playa.

I wouldn't mind if they showed us how they are baking the bread, so to speak, like rough map sketches, clips of discussions of EWAR or progression etc. It would be a good way to keep in touch with us on occasion without creating unreasonable expectations.
Where they got in trouble was talking about making bread they never got to, or making artist renderings of the bread they wanted to make. The difference is like when I try and bake something from an internet recipe, it never turns out like it looks in the picture.

If the game were not happening why would the hopes of those people matter?
It is all risk versus reward. A hype train growing all the way up to the launch equals more money if the launch happens (reward) and equals a few people getting butt hurt and moving on if its does not (risk).
Call it heartless if you like but it is what it is.

Speaking of hype, anyone remember this hype (/lie) where PVE drones were shown in DUST 514? Gathering Forces Yep, that never happened outside that trailer. I am guessing PVE never happened because CCP were wanting to perfect their AI. With the crap AI Defiance and Destiny (at least early) had, if it moved decently and shot at you, it would have been just fine. Hell, the targeting AI for the big ground turrets in DUST 514 were sometimes too good if you accidently hit them.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

I would argue that PVE turned into a serious catch 22.
With the average amount of players online at any given time dividing the player base up and possibly allowing some form of farming would have put even more stress on match making. The issue is that it was that lack of PVE that really hindered the ability to retain more players and grow the player base.
At that point you end up with PVE needing an entire team to itself to both make it worth while and keep it from having harmful effects on the rest of the game.
In a lot of beta and alpha games you see PVE added first followed by a simple form of PVP and then they focus on expanding both sides through shared resources and balancing information. This allows the player base to have a certain growth factor that is not negatively impacted as badly by a lack of balance (cough protostomping) and allows players to create their own sort of learning curve.

It would be great if they at least released a weekly video update on the development of NOVA till we had a announcement of when the release date would be. Plus a inside look at what they are doing with it in Iceland and Shanghai, China would be great to get to know all the people behind it. It is a opportunity for them to show us they are not absolute traitors and do give a **** about all of us that have been left behind. |

Since CCP is still sorting through the viability of Nova and whether it will ever it become something more than a glorified thought experiment it up to the fans and former customers of Dust 514 to keep the dream alive and convince the powers that be Nova should move to a product development stage before the end of 2016.
All we can do is politely remind CCP management the marketplace has room for a FPS with depth and sophistication as was demonstrated by the years so many of us played Dust

And even if CCP were to give us any hint of their progress we must all assume that any such details (however small they may be) will figuratively have a disclaimer in which such details are just a "WORK IN PROGRESS." And if CCP has to literally slap on the "WORK IN PROGRESS" label on any blogs or videos they post to drive home that point then so be it. And we all must already know and understand what "WORK IN PROGRESS" means. It means that whatever they show us is NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT AND IS SUBJECT TO BEING CHANGED LATER ON WITHOUT NOTICE.
My point here is that we as a community are still responsible for managing our own expectations here. Sure, CCP didn't do well at all with managing expectations on Dust 514 in addition to how we amplified any unrealistic expectation we created as a community but that game is dead now and that dead game was developed by old leadership that didn't know what they were doing. Project Nova is under better leadership with CCP Rattati and now has CCP LogicLoop back in the team leading the level designing. This means we shouldn't be expecting any new hype in the foreseeable future unless CCP actually feels that Nova is ready for it.
In the meantime we have to temper our own expectations and not let ourselves fall again into that trap of amplifying any unrealistic expectations we create. In fact, we all have to stop creating unrealistic expectations because otherwise we will be right back into square one like we did with Dust.
