Only to have the hopes of those showing interest get dashed? No thanks.

AERYN SUIN wrote:It would be great if they at least released a weekly video update on the development of NOVA till we had a announcement of when the release date would be. Plus a inside look at what they are doing with it in Iceland and Shanghai, China would be great to get to know all the people behind it. It is a opportunity for them to show us they are not absolute traitors and do give a **** about all of us that have been left behind.
That would be ok for me. I would actually like to get to know the staff as well. So far we only know a few of them.

Where they got in trouble was talking about making bread they never got to, or making artist renderings of the bread they wanted to make. The difference is like when I try and bake something from an internet recipe, it never turns out like it looks in the picture. Perhaps just a small invitation or link to current progress made available to those who did the whole 514 newsletter thing. I don't think that would be hype, just appreciation/respect shown to those who supported CCP for over 3 years. I suspect this is exactly the kind of thing Herc is talking about. Since CCP is still sorting through the viability of Nova and whether it will ever it become something more than a glorified thought experiment it up to the fans and former customers of Dust 514 to keep the dream alive and convince the powers that be Nova should move to a product development stage before the end of 2016. All we can do is politely remind CCP management the marketplace has room for a FPS with depth and sophistication as was demonstrated by the years so many of us played Dust
And even if CCP were to give us any hint of their progress we must all assume that any such details (however small they may be) will figuratively have a disclaimer in which such details are just a "WORK IN PROGRESS." And if CCP has to literally slap on the "WORK IN PROGRESS" label on any blogs or videos they post to drive home that point then so be it. And we all must already know and understand what "WORK IN PROGRESS" means. It means that whatever they show us is NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT AND IS SUBJECT TO BEING CHANGED LATER ON WITHOUT NOTICE.
My point here is that we as a community are still responsible for managing our own expectations here. Sure, CCP didn't do well at all with managing expectations on Dust 514 in addition to how we amplified any unrealistic expectation we created as a community but that game is dead now and that dead game was developed by old leadership that didn't know what they were doing. Project Nova is under better leadership with CCP Rattati and now has CCP LogicLoop back in the team leading the level designing. This means we shouldn't be expecting any new hype in the foreseeable future unless CCP actually feels that Nova is ready for it.
In the meantime we have to temper our own expectations and not let ourselves fall again into that trap of amplifying any unrealistic expectations we create. In fact, we all have to stop creating unrealistic expectations because otherwise we will be right back into square one like we did with Dust.
