A year+ until Alpha? A year of Beta? Anybody have a hypothesis on what kind of timeline we could be waiting? If or when we get the shadowed hints of a green light from CCP? Could they develop Nova fairly quickly for PC because of the many resources and veteran staff working on employing the UE4 engine? Most of us have seen they may have a good foundation built already. Let us put some fire to their feet! ( not real fire, it's a figure of speech) . Discuss please.

If I recall interviews of Rattati around FF correctly, there may be an Alpha by the end of the year.
How long it takes from that to Beta etc I couldn't guess.

We have already tried the 10 year plan! I feel they still owe us 5 years of game. Also I'd have carpel tunnel by then p. Just wanted you guys to invigorate the process and keep interest at the fore because if it is about revenue driving development then I'll budget for it. No more top shelf $wag or excessive burn outs. I'd rather blast your faces off in space.

I was really hoping 2 month after fan fest for a very early alfa. My logic being that you want to keep your fan base going before they get too invested in another game. I personally think that anything after october is a lost for me. And then there is the issue that you need a pc powerful enough to play it. |

They should have let it continue, even with minimal effort on their part, and one day SOONGäó, they'd announce that on a given day at DT the PS3 version would be shut down, and NOVA (beta?) would be launched after DT that day. :P |

My thoughts exactly. Dust could've continued until at least the end of 2016. |

Fan base? So you mean EVE players? If CCP was really concerned about player retention from Dust players, it would have been on console instead of an entirely different platform.

Sadly, CCP does not seem to understand these imperatives, actually CCP doesn't see them as imperatives in the first place. Keeping the fan base should be, should have been, CCP's #1 concern, but they way they treated Dusters, not giving them a port to PS4 so they had something to continue playing while Nova was developed, was abysmal. I agree, anything more than 2 months is just pointless. They will be pitching to a whole new audience by then. Some of us old timers may still be around waiting to see what the new product is like, but most will be gone. |

I expect some info at EVE Vegas and then beta (probably closed or just simple stuff) around FanFest.
Which, if things go the way they are supposed to, I should be at both.

Ideally a seemless transition to the new universe would have been ideal. You had all those years building dust on a PC, ported to the lol PS. I fully understand it's more than copy n paste. My dreams will always be far from practical though.
Building on a clean engine with stable code is what we needed for Nova. Wish I had the knowledge to complain and suggest more efficiently. Anyway I'm Playing in several Alpha and Beta tests now, and It really does take years to put a good games together. Hopefully they have a finished open to the public product in 2 years.

So many good points made in this post! I for one really hope to see or at least hear about something by the end of summer or fall time. Like mentioned earlier the longer the wait the more will slowly drift away, and possibility never look back. Being in the dark about this is stupid on ccp's part. The best thing they can do right now is give updates weekly!
That is because the players can feed to other people about what is coming! Word of mouth goes a long way when your making a new game. If this ends up going through, I know they want to get it right. But you have to keep everyone informed along the way.
When in doubt pull the forge out!!

Not really. The people of New Eden, aka Eve Online players, aka capsuleers, have long lasting memories. Just ask any of them if they remember the Jita riots or Hulkageddon and they will recall years of memories. They never forget those events. They also never forget about World of Darkness or Dust 514. So you can rest assured that Project Nova will not be forgotten by the players.

I believe Rattati said he was aiming for the Alpha in late 2016.
So I would expect Alpha to be sometime in the middle of 2017.

Well I hope you are correct! Cause now I actually miss dust. Not for the bad parts, but for the brilliant game that it was. No lie it was hard to learn, but it wasn't meant for the trigger happy Plebe's of most fps. The thing I loved most about dust is that anyone that understood it could counter the other team if they tried hard enough. Lean and adapt.
When in doubt pull the forge out!!
