Yep, EvE. I've finally made a reappearance in Provibloc, after almost a year of absence due to Dust. I actually find I have to learn how to fly ships in combat again!! :) |

It uses the Asian-style token system of free-to-play games instead of being unlimited play, but they increased the drop rate of Sortie Fuel (tokens) so high that using the Forced Sortie (use extra Fuel to get better rewards from each match) option, I've only actually gone down 8 tokens after doing 10+ matches with 3 each. I've had AC Infinity on my slimline PS3 for a while now but never played it! I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for reminding me, Mobius. |

Part of why I like the game is it expands upon the customization system in Ace Combat X and allows you to fit up to 7 "Parts" that modify the stats of the aircraft. You can think of it as a simpler version of vehicle fitting in Dust 514. Right now I mostly use Pixy's ADFX-01 Morgan with the Tactical Laser System, and some Parts to improve speed and maneuverability while also buffing my standard missiles and the firing duration of the TLS. As you level up your aicraft you gain more Parts points so you can fit better ones, and the base stats of the plane improve as well. Wow that's a real break from the past! Yes, I can see how that sort of fits with Ace Combat X. But if you've never played that, this is the first of its kind especially on the big consoles.
I had a look at it today after it downloaded a brand new version of the game and then the latest update for the OS. I love the music, which reminds me of past AC titles, and the look and feel of the menu system, while different, is still fairly familiar. I can see though that this is a significantly different game and I'm going to enjoy exploring it.
First thing I did of course, is set the flight controls to "Expert" so I have proper roll and turn, and reverse camera so the camera works the same as the flight controls. The first training mission showed that it's very similar to any of the previous titles.
There's an online mode I presume? I like the fact that it uploads and downloads data on the fly. So I guess that means it's automaticly going to have an online presence....
Thanks again for reminding me. I'd never looked at it before, but now I'm probably going to be playing it instead of AC Event Horizon. I don't know about you, but I really just don't like helicopter gunship piloting. Probably why I never really warmed to dropships.... |

Maybe you, Mobius and I can meet up in online missions or something! Mobius, how does that work? |

Well, of course the music is familiar, it's actually based on the AC04 music as far as I can tell. I haven't heard it all yet, but certain themes are definitely identical to some in the earlier game. |
