CCP Frame has confirmed that the forums WILL remain active even after the shutdown of DUST. This in of itself is pretty telling since there would be little point to keep the forums up if they already knew Nova was dead in the water.
While this does not confirm a greenlight of Nova by any means, it certainly does shed a positive attitude towards the future since I imagine it took some finagling with Sony to make sure the forums stay up despite DUST being dead in the water after month's end.
That being said, I get the feeling we're probably in one of two situations:
- The Board is still deciding on wether or not to greenlight the game. I however find this unlikely since we know that Fan Fest was a hard gate that the game needed to pass through, I imagine the final pitch using the feedback from the Fan Fest demo happened fairly soon after since....they really couldnt continue development without getting the green light. Since Fan Fest was a month ago, my guess is that the pitch has already been made and the board most likely has already come to a decision in that time frame.
- The game has been green lit, but given the time frame before the end of DUST, I imagine we may not hear about till after the end of the month, which would be a prime reason to keep the forums running since it keeps the dissemination of information a far bit easier. Plus as we've all discussed (and Frame is aware of) the importance of keeping a central point of discussion for all you dirty salty forum warriors. Because I ******* love/hate you all. Either way, the extension of the forums WITHOUT an announcement of greenlight means we likely will not hear about it before the game shuts off. While that sucks, that seems to be where I think things are most likely to go.
So yeah, Boundless Optimistic Tinfoiling. Bring on the trolling and pessimism bitches!

My predicted timeline:
1) We will hear the game has been greenlit some time between June and November this year. If it isn't greenlit CCP will make no announcement and will state at Fanfest 2017 "we have nothing to announce about project Nova at this time".
2) Assuming the game is greenlit we will be shown the basics of the full game at Fanfest 2017.
3) Fanfest 2018 will show us the game in what appears to be an advanced stage of development.
4) November 2018. Close beta announced.
5) Fanfest 2019, game is mostly done. Open beta announced.
6) June 2020, game released.
This might be a little on the pessimistic side time wise, but I'm playing it safe. |
