Farewell
I'll be leaving you all after today, marking my final day on Dust 514. I can't play anymore. I feel like a grizzled old veteran with no combat skills anymore. With the servers closing on May 31st and only about 900 people online at the time of this writing, I might as well call it a day now.
I'll be honest, I wish I would have had the stomach to play more after being elected to CPM. I know a lot of you voted me in based on the confidence that I still played the game, but in reality the CPM is very time consuming and after hearing about Project Nova, I became very disinterested in continuing to play Dust 514. Nevertheless, even with the knowledge, we worked tirelessly to provide everything including (but not limited to) Shield fixes, Myofibril Stack Limits and PG increase, and Warbarge Officer Gear changes. We worked a lot on Uprising 1.3 and were extremely disheartened to find out that it just couldn't be done because of technical issues with the PS3. It hurt us all a great deal.
After that we focused almost entirely on Project Nova, and what you say (or even played) at Fanfest is the culmination of all of that work. Having played it myself in Iceland, I have to sound I've never been more eager and proud to say that I was part of the Dust 514 community that is making that vision a reality.
With that said, I have to say that as the days tick by I am terribly saddened that it's all come to it's inevitable conclusion. Everything must die eventually. The laws of thermodynamics guarantee it. Yet, one thing that will always live on is our experiences, emotions, and memories. I knew a full range of it working on and playing Dust 514 with you all, and even if I don't remember all of you on a name-basis, I know that our interactions shaped the history that we made together in some way, shape, or form. A gun shot, a kill made, a suit sold, a district taken. In some way, we've all made our impact somehow, even if it was just forcing someone to buy a new suit in the Academy.
Our experiences made Dust 514 and if I - if WE - have any power over it, they -WILL- make Project Nova. Even though I leave you all eleven days shy of the server closures, know that I'll be with you ******* until the very end. I'll be here, fighting the good fight until CCP themselves tank as a company, and even then I might write a book about it all. I mean, I kind of have to, I have ******* tattoos of this **** now
So with that being said...
Farewell my friends. And while we don't really have a catchy tagline for Dust 514 or Project Nova, we'll just steal Valkyrie's:
Quote:"See you in the next life"
