Entire vehicle aspect of the game in DUST is something like 25-30% of bug's this game have. Just look at the past and imagine that every singiel developer-minute spend on fixing Infantry-Vechicle interaction could serve for good of Infantry vs. Infantry combat - sincerely I think we would play even greater game today, then we do.
The only bug with vehicles is that the control sticks sometimes don't respond as you roll from full reverse to full accel.
Would be better to imagine what Dust would have been like if they didn't split the team to waste time on Legion.

Mobius Wyvern wrote: Remember also that Nova is starting out as us fighting on ships in space where you don't even have any room for vehicles. It's been said many times that when the core gameplay is as fun as possible - instead of being barely tolerable like Dust - they'll open up planets again and we'll have vehicles there.
Assumes facts not in evidence.
The demo took place inside, and aside from some lore fluff, it wasn't in space, at least not moving. Boring reality sneaking in, but physics has rules and all that.
As for them making a infantry only game than expanding it with vehicles, I find that to be a poor design philosophy. They don't work as a tack on addition.
As for starting out on ships in space, I laugh heartily at how poorly a corridor shooter with no views of the outside world will do.
Why do YOU need to be reminded about the "ten year plan"?
Here, lets go back to 2012, https://youtu.be/jbzN4G_geKI?t=408 isn't in funny how they are still focused on making a "good shooter experience".
I wish them the best of luck, but don't act like we haven't seen all these statements before. Its a bloody recycle of the promises with Dust, just with less actual ambition.

No faith in press images. I think you catch a glimpse of the room in Kirks third video, but with all the grey on grey, its hard to tell.
But of course it wasn't in space in new eden, its just some window dressing. The gravity makes no sense as soon as you see outside, but I guess that doesn't really matter, since authentic artificial gravity would make people freak out.
Playing inside a representation of a carrier is still pointless, because CCP will NEVER allow people destroy ships from the inside. So pretending you are inside a carrier is all fine and good, but it will never be connected to new eden that way.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
I'd rather play the game Laurino wanted to make than what Rattati is planning, but I came to dust for persistence, and a connection to new eden.

As for the gravity part, this is sci-fi for crying out loud. We are practically about 24,000 years into the future.

That's CCP Jian if I remember correctly. As far as I can tell from experience, at least Rattati delivered more on his promises compared to this guy. I would rather trust someone who actually delivered more than the other guy.
Well, considering the underwhelming vehicle work, and the horrid jump garbage, Rattati took the game backwards to me.
Hitscan lobby shooter with jumpy trash? Thats a paddlin'.

As well, would you describe every single feature ever added to every MMO as a "tack-on addition"? Adding new ways to play is pretty common for MMOs even many years into their lifespan. Do you want another Dust 514, or do you want a game actually worthy of having EVE in front of it's name?
Nova isn't an MMO. Its an FPS.
Name a shooter that introduced vehicles after launch. The only one I can think of is Heroes and Generals, and its still in beta, and oof the issues it is having with Armor.
The differences between an infantry only shooter and one with vehicles are not to be dismissed. From map design, to movement speeds, and more. You either design them from the ground up with vehicles in mind, or you don't.
It also seems like Rattati doesn't like vehicles, so I don't expect there to be a push from the top to get vehicles in the game.

Did you miss all the work Rattati did to make vehicles viable?
.
I'm sorry, what?
Two nerfs to rails, nerf and then a quarter buff to large blasters, Nerf to large missiles, two useless buffs to small blasters.
Oh yeah, can't forget adding the SHAVs, the completely useless class of vehicles that no experienced pilot would use.
That is the work that made vehicles viable?
Really?
Now, I am not blaming Rattati for all that, since Wolfman really left a stinker with the vehicle rework in 1.7, but to say Rattati did anything other than marginalize vehicles is flat out false.

Redoing the vehicle progression and going towards the tiericide that so many people begged for.
Narrowing vehicles down to a manageable size that actually could be balanced and getting us closer to vehicle balance than any time in the game.
Adding vehicle damage points which helped out vehicle users far more than A/V users.
At several points in the balancing process leaving tanks 100% indestructible.
Multiple attempts at recycling assets just to give us a form of racial parity even tho the PS3 would not allow it.
The list goes on but the point is just because it was not changes that fit into your picture of what should have been done does not mean they were not worked on.
If by marginalize you mean make them not god mode thus keeping the focus on playing a shooter in a shooter game then okay fine I will concede to your point.
There is no progression in tanks. Not proto, you die, and quick.
Vehicles aren't balanced, they are pointless.
Tanks were god mode in 1.7, which wasn't Rattati, that was wolfman. Know your dust history.
Promises about racial parity are about as valuable as a ruler in a **** measuring contest in a room full of eunichs.
For myself, I preferred the old, pre 1.7 tanks. Easily killed, hard to keep alive, but if you were attentive, and cautious, and the game didn't screw you with invisible swarms and unspottable forge guns, fun could be had.
Whatever, you infantry only scrubs can go suck it. Clearly you and rattati are two peas in the same CoD pod.
