Jathniel wrote:They dropped WoD mid development... On a positive note: they sold the WoD IP and all the WoD assets they had made to Paradox so it might actually get made into a decent game. Paradox has put out some quality games the last couple years, including Pillars of Eternity which is an amazing top down isometric cRPG.
Jathniel wrote:and they dropped Legion. To be fair, legion was built in the hackjob UE3 CCP had made. It was designed in an attempt to get DUST off the PS3 as quickly as possible... not necessarily the best way to go about things. Nova is in UE4 for a reason; it's a better engine in almost every regard.

CCP will **** up in the development of product nova. Something will go wrong; a bug or fucky game balancing. Maybe the servers will go down for a day because of reasons. You get the idea.
Then we'll be right back here again. CCP lied to you, CCP cheated you, CCP is incompetent, "I heard CCP stomps on infants' throats!" Nothing will ever be good enough for the salty veterans. No forgiveness or leeway will be given and certainly no human error allowed.
So this has little to do with having CCP prove themselves. This has everything to do with sour, entitled player attitudes.

DUST Fiend wrote:I mean he essentially shut down DUSTs development 2 years ago, dangled Legion for us then canned that, and is now dangling a new project that he still hasn't even greenlit yet? That's not exactly encouraging :/ This is a matter of perspective. "Essentially shut down DUST's development 2 years ago" also includes putting CCP Rattati in charge of DUST which led to balancing and the community having a bit more trust in CCP Shanghai*.
"Dangled legion for us then canned that" Okay, you aren't incorrect, but you are leaving out one glaring issue: HE SHOULD HAVE CANNED LEGION. It was a hurried, unplayable glorified cutscene made with that modified version of UE3 CCP made for Dust. He did the right thing. UE4 is a much better engine and where product nova needs to be.
"Dangled a new project that he still hasn't even greenlit yet" C'mon man... there was a pre-alpha demo available to players at fanfest. This was largely done to generate feedback before they pull the trigger on a new project. By the by, the feedback was "overwhelmingly positive" according to Rattati and some DUST vets who attended fanfest.
*: or at least CCP Rattati.
