Only under the condition that CCP takes a snapshot of our current stats before doing that just in case they find a way to transfer our character data to Project Nova if the time comes.

The reason they won't unlock SP is probably because it takes some coding and staff, neither of which CCP is going to commit to when the game has a month left to live.

The snapshot will be a waste, CCP are looking to start anew.
They cannot give us our SP, those of us with 25mil let alone 50 and 100+mill will create more of a divide between the vets and new players which will hammer the game if proper MM is still not in place.
As for stats they are worthless, what you did in DUST is now meaningless in the grand scale of things, we are defunct clones like the Templars before us and the empires are starting again.
The only things which should transfer are names and clone run corps.

There's a good chance vehicles will not be in the game upon release.

No to what?
You will not get your SP transfered or ISK or assets or stats because it is a new game, does not matter how much green you gave them it has been spent on swords for CCP employees.

Then again, it seems like CCPs answer to things that are too difficult. Just remove them from the game and say that they might get added back in once they're fixed.

Yea, I don't trust CCP to get it right later. If you don't build the game around having vehicles in it, then you create a game just for infantry, and it becomes even HARDER to balance them at that point.
Guess we'll just have to see, but I predict vehicle power ups at best, kind of like SW Battlefront.

I agree though Im starting to feel that trying to make a system where they work in all situations just isn't going to happen. I'm thinking adding game modes later that give a distinctive purpose for vehicles within that game mode would make their existence far more enjoyable for everyone involved.

I don't trust CCPs ability to make it happen in anything other than a casual lobby shooter setting, but I could certainly be wrong.
Everything is speculation right now, I'm just curious how they intend to stack up to their competition when they're basically just making generic shooter 514 at the moment.

I guess I was hoping that moving to PC would be CCPs chance to turn over a new leaf and give this game proper funding and a reasonable sized dev team. Instead they're just keeping it as a side project with seemingly similar resources. A proper sized team and funding would allow for a significantly more complex and in depth game, but instead it seems we're getting good enough for cash grab with the promise of a brighter future. Kind of deja vu-y
Yes, much is to be seen but all we can really do is sit and wait. And to be fair and completely honest, I think Rattati is very capable of getting his head around the gunplay, but really struggles with vehicles. To really pull it off we would need a proper focus group to discuss large design choices about vehicles, but in the meantime Rattati needs to get the game off the ground so I'm content to let him do what he's good at to make that happen.

I have my doubts as well, but if CCP can find a way to transfer data (if they even want to) to the next game then they should have a snapshot of our current stats archived somewhere. Probably not as a way to copy into project nova accounts for Steam but maybe as a frame of reference for judging who gets what tiered reward later on.

Again, even if they don't give us a 1:1 transfer, they have at least a frame of reference to base our tiered rewards on.

Let me reiterate what CCP Frame said in his official post in the Announcement section of the forums.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=225484&find=unread
"Since this new game will be different from DUST 514 (although keeping many of its great parts), we will provide tiered recognition rewards to our loyal DUST customers, details to be announced." - CCP Frame
Unfortunately we still haven't gotten those details yet even during fanfest but since the idea of them giving us tiered rewards in the next game is out there, CCP should keep a record of our stats safeguarded before they start giving us all of the SP unlocked.
And I do have confidence that some basic info on our characters (name, corporation, date of birth, race, and location) will likely be ported over mainly because the data is stored in Tranquility which is the same server where Eve Online character stats are stored in as well.
