...a while back what would WP be used for in the closed indoor maps shown for Project Nova and I have the answer.
CCP Rattati (i believe) talked about countering like Rock Paper Scissors.
Here's what came to mind-
Code Breakers.
Code breakers are used to hack quicker than normal. So, since we can use war barge strikes inside (or at least we think so for now), why not have an option to use WP to "increase terminal security" hence making them harder to hack, countering Code breakers?
Think of it like "purchasing virtual barriers" that can be broken after a long hack, allowing standard hack time again. Can come in handy for point defense, no?
Well, that was my idea.

The game Brink had something along these lines . I liked the idea in general, but in Brink at least, it didn't really happen all that often in practice. I'd have to see how it actually played out in practice first I think....

That wouldn't be bad as long as it didn't go too far, and it would also increase the value of Code Breakers and whatever role hacks best.

I would assume if this were implemented, there would probably be tiered protection, the same way there are small and large orbital strikes. A small hacker barrier would reduce hack speed by x%, something around making a basic code breaker useless, and a large barrier by x%, making and advanced code breaker useless, useless as in it would take the same amount of time to hack as if you didn't have a code breaker.
Idk about a third tier, was thinking letting the pro one be the hacker "God", giving even more reason to skill it to pro.

That's actually not a bad idea.
But I would be extra careful about this because then this will spell big trouble for certain match modes such as Domination where there is a single permanent objective that one side captures and fortifies preventing the opponents from ever getting near it. Using WPs to enhance the terminal security of the objective making it more difficult to hack will only make the situation worse in Domination mode.
Of course, this probably won't be an issue for other modes such as acquisition and skirmish. In fact, a team with a strong group of logis might be able to acquire enough WPs to make it difficult to hack their objectives as a way to compensate for not having enough assaults or sentinels on their side.
However, this probably won't work well if the matchmaking doesn't work like it should and we see a team of vets facing a team of just newbros. At that point it makes no difference even if the newbros have the WP advantage if they can't coordinate well enough to stop the vets from steamrolling over them.
I was also thinking of a flip side to this in which WPs could be used to enhance the hacking abilities of players. But then I decided against my own idea when I realized that A) this could potentially cause power creep in which an assault can somehow hack better than a Minmatar Scout using the WPs or B) this would render any terminal security enhancements as useless as this would mean that a Minscout fully stacked with complex code breakers might be able to instantly hack a terminal by the time anyone nearby reacts. Overall, the idea of using WPs to enhance the effects of code breakers create massive balance issues when it comes to how objectives are captured.
In fact strictly using the WPs to enhancing terminal security alone and not enhancing the code breakers might actually be a better idea since, as One Eyed King put it best, it would "increase the value of Code Breakers and whatever role hacks best."
I can also see logibros increasing in value because of this.

Spend your WP on turning off artificial gravity for X amount of time or turn up the gravity making it harder for people to jump about or reduce the arcs of slow projectiles such as Mass Drivers or Grenades.

Another psuedo OB strike idea was one I saw in some weird FPS set almost in an industrial zone with zombies as random map hazards. The idea was when you earnt enough points or kills in a streak you could cause localized detonations in quadrants of the map.
Perhaps in these interior maps you can activate some kind of security device or vent radiation in rooms/corridors,etc to cause players to take damage/die if they are caught in them and force them through other routes on the map for a short time.
Kind of like how smokes and molotovs force players to slow their game down or chose different routes in CS:GO

hmm or maybe some hazard specific for different types of maps. Thus on planets you still get the warbarge/orbital. On a ship you get the gravity or maybe a hall breach that sucks players into the vacuum of space. On a mine/cave/asteroid you get a crumbling tunnel. On a snow mountain you get an avalanche etc etc. |
