So this idea is a bit dependent on PVE but how about this;
Current merc clone tech is based on drifter/sleeper tech, the first generation of clones went insane (the Templars). As the Drifters were worried about losing their tech and tried to stop it being used.
The second generation (Dust mercs) have be fine, but it was all part of deception by the drifters, the mercs are 'Triggered' to attack the 4 empires
All empire cloning programs are shut offline May 30th whilst the tech is analysed and damage contained.
Project Nova lives, 3rd generation are sent in to kill the 2nd generation (PVE). 2nd generation feature the names of Dust vets with over x amount of war points (and take the form of their favourited dropsuit).
Note: This doesn't affect the ability to keep your clone name in Nova

I find the idea of having to kill your characters to be something akin to rubbing salt in the wounds of those who have put a lot of investment in their characters.
Some of us actually care about our characters beyond being dumps of stats, and would rather see our characters continue on in the next chapter of the game as something other than farmable mobs.

Technically the clones we use arn't the sleeper drone tech. The original Templar clones were (detailed in the Templar One novel) but i think it was Ishukone, Gallente Federation and Mordu's Legion got samples of the 'faulty' implants and reverse engineered them so that they're not associated with the sleeper implants so not affected by 'the other' that caused the Templars to go crazy

To be fair though the reason that the 1st generation of Templar soldiers was destroyed was due to how unstable the sudden awakening on Sleeper consciousnesses in their mind was causing them to fall into madness. At the time it would have been unlikely that the Amarr Empire could have afforded for such military assets as those Templar Clones to roam free and much like in the Caldari State cloned purges were led... likely under the justification of Public Security.
That said our current generation of clones is not as far as we know an unstable type. In fact looking at what clones have achieved over the last few years, particularly through the lens of Planetary Conquest which was simply a Thukker Tribe experiment to see what we might do with agency to claim and secure worlds, we're almost too stable having ground down to stalemates across the Region.
Unlike previously there is no need to remove the previous generation of clones through a violent means...
Perhaps rather than that Genolution, CONCORD, or other weapons manufacturers are looking at our clones and simply re-imangining them to suit a growing war economy that flourishes on our kind of rampant and perpetual destruction. Perhaps CONCORD has decided that we no longer need to be policed so thoroughly or perhaps that instead we do now highlighting the vast array of contracts we have been undertaking in lore but up until now have not come to light, or perhaps other organisations are simply circumventing the Empires and CONCORD to provide us with more suitable means to keep doing their dirty work across the cluster.

Dust 514 corps/mercs are apparently getting some lore-love in the summer. Had a chat with the dev team assigned for lore events, so keep an eye out for that.
Most of the lore is going to be leading up to and explaining the new (third???) generation of clones that were used in Nova, which are far more efficient for war/battle than the predecessors.

More akin to this.
Fact of the matter is that after four years of seeing the chaos unfold, I'd imagine Genolution would have designed a better standard clone that focused a lot less on high heels and more on taking a lot of bullets.

Veteran recognition is something that we've been discussing over Fanfest with CCP and those players that made it over there, which was quite a few as it happens.
There are obviously some technical hurdles that need overcoming. Nova is more than likely going to be on Steam as its distribution method. In fact the demo running at FF was on a Steam client with the server in Frankfurt, not a LAN. So they'll be likely some sign up mechanism from Sony and being able to link it to steam account.
But this is all very early thinking and of course, dependant on Project Nova getting green lit.

Well out implant was originally based upon it however the subsequent iterations on the cloned soldier implant after the first generation of Templar's went crazy were much more stable.
To be honest if CCP tried to make out characters go crazy I'd just pull some M.Night Shyamalan bullshit to circumvent insanity.

The other as we know it is dead.... there is little evidence to suggest it survived dying with the Empress Jamyl during the explosion of the TES Seraph. The subsequent chronicle which covers a conversation between Matashi Raish and one of the surviving Jove named Viriel provides a hypothesis about what Jamyl Sarum might have been attempting to do with 'The Other' before her death.
My interpretation of that is that through her sheer force of will she was forcibly accepting 'The Other' into her consciousness rather that attempting to reject it. Whens he died it was unable to separate from her and so died with her unless the Drifters somehow extracted it which there is no evidence to suggest they have at present time.

All Im saying true is that its silly to think that "the other" is dead or has not at this point found another host. He is obviously an infomorph and was in Falek Grange's body just before the beginning of emperean age. If anything, he is the father of the templars with jamyl as the mother. To dismiss speculation that he is a facet of the drifters is ridiculous... it just makes sence.

Most of the lore is going to be leading up to and explaining the new (third???) generation of clones that were used in Nova, which are far more efficient for war/battle than the predecessors.
Will be exciting to see what makes it in - would love to see something about ZionTCD and Legacy Rising.
