Meant as a consolidation of various interviews in the media sphere, this should help nail down some important bullet points for players to help get a more broad grasp on what's going on with Project Nova.

I hear ya man, but I'd rather they take their time and get it right rather than put them in for the sake of having them and have it be another mess.

You know I wouldn't really be opposed to specific game modes which featured vehicles for key objectives. Kinda like Acquisition from MAG if you're familiar.

I guess I just have to accept that the idea of a hardcore experience entwined with EVE is just dead for now. I'll attempt to hold my tongue until I see it for myself on my system. The fact that the "project" isn't even greenlit yet just makes my blood boil. This is easily one of the most loyal communities of any game I've ever seen, how they can STILL be waffling on this and allocating minimal resources just triggers the **** out of me. Woo saa
Wooooo saaaaaa
Well, Fanfest is a gate in the development process. If reviews are good for the tech demo (and they are for those who actually played it) there's a much higher chance this will be greenlit. My Boundless Optimism is tingling.

Though there are still a lot of details I need to cover when it comes to actual gameplay differences.
I really do suggest you take a look at Rattati's post in Gen Discussion and the videos that Fanfest Attendees have posted if you have no already. Some really good and interesting stuff.

I agree with the fitting/customization thing. I really hope its the same or close to the same as dusts. I'll be very sad if they turn it into something stupid like a COD pick ten peace of crap system, or even worse, the battlefront star card system. Which is what it kind of looked like from the demo. Each person I saw only had two equipment peaces. Which kind of led me to believe that they went the star card route.
The fitting system was not what confused new players. What confused new players was how it was all presented. The basic tutorial to dust, if i remember correctly, did nothing besides tell you "this is how you fit a module to a suit" and ended it there. If they gave a comprehensive tutorial that dove into some of the more common modules like damage amps and shield extenders/armor plates and explained the premise i think that would have gone a long way in helping new players get the hang of the fitting system.
but the fitting system itself really wasn't flawed at all. I liked it because it was a core identifying trait that made dust unique to other shooters in terms of customization.
Yep totally agree. We will just have to hang tight and see what the end result is before getting too worked up over it.

You know in the development progression, it makes a lot more sense to introduce an economic reason for EVE players to care about Planetary Conquest before they introduce something like Planetary Bombardment. I think DUST sort of put the cart before the horse in that respect. As long as they don't do anything that would prevent them from adding direct interaction in the future, I am not going to worry about it. Even if they are not considering adding Planetary Bombardment to Nova now, there will always be that nostalgia about Orbitals in DUST, so the idea is not going to go away.
And honestly much of the issue with Bombardment was that in most cases there was little incentive for the EVE player. Establishing the incentive first would be a good step in the right direction.

But that's for another time.
You mean Nova and EVE?

But that's for another time. You mean Nova and EVE? I assume he means Nova and EVE. And yeah, I am sad to see that even when we get territorial warfare back CCP seems to think orbital strikes should never come back. Part of what I talked about with some friends on Skype was the idea of having a set of satellites about 300km above the planet that you have to warp to to perform orbitals, and that you can drop as many strikes as possible before the satellite passes over the horizon, at which point you warp to the next one back. That way you keep the process of dropping orbitals more active and fun for the EVE player and that strike ship is a major threat to the enemy on the ground. To counter that, you implement the range of surface-to-orbit defense weapons that CCP already had concept art for. Enable the enemy on the ground to either defend themselves with their own emplacements, or hack the opposing team's and turn them against their support ships. If you set up the orbital strike mechanics to be fun and require more activity EVE-side, you would see a lot more players engaging in them, because I've met a LOT of FW pilots who talked about how excited they were for that element of Dust integration right up until they realized it meant sitting in one place pressing F1 every 3 minutes.
Ehh I mean yeah that sounds all cool in concept, but it'll be just as underutilized as EVE Orbitals in DUST were.

Turkevich wrote:Any word on what the transition plan from Dust to Nova is? CCP said there would be more information coming regarding this during Fanfest this year but that didn't happen. Given CCP's track record with Dust I'm hesitant to sink any money into Nova. How they treat their loyal customers will determine if they see money from me for Nova or whether I'll simply play it for free.
My guess is that little to nothing will transfer. Personally my best case scenario is that they find a way to migrate player names (and associated logins) over to Nova. Corps will remain intact most likely, just a matter if you'll be able to directly transfer your name.
As for assets, ISK, ect....assume it's gone. I would be absolutely shocked if any of that made it over... partially because it looks like a lot of the systems in DUST are not compatable with how things are set up in NOVA.

I would expect things more in line with what you mentioned like cosmetics and whatnot...I would not expect anything that's going to give you an advantage over new players though, you'll have to rely on years of experience as a player for that =ƒÿé
