I have to say this is one of the few things I really hate about the patch. I understand that the Forge Gun was a problem for some people because it was being used as an anti infantry weapon. I personally didn't think it was a huge problem, but I understand why people wanted it fixed, so fine.
The problem is that the reduced speed while charging is really counterproductive. Being able to hide behind cover and pop out at the right time with the forge gun while fighting vehicles is a big deal, a really big deal. Even a pimped out heavy cant take an HAV to the face for very long, so they have to make use of cover to properly deal with tanks. However, the speed reduction while charging makes it so difficult to move around that instead of popping out from behind cover, you pretty much lay on the ground and drag your fat ass with one arm while twitching and drooling on yourself.
I understand heavies are supposed to be slow, but making them damn near immobile is a bit much. I mean I get the idea behind it, that heavies can no longer run around the map with a fully charged gun ready to fire at a moments notice, I do understand that, but this isn't the right fix. By adding this reduce speed while charging severely gimps the AV capabilities of the forge gun, which is pointless since that's what the gun is designed to do!
A simple nerf of splash damage would have sufficed, same as the swarm launcher (which was handled perfectly I might add). Remove the reduced speed while charging, it discourages forge gun use against vehicles since it makes using cover nearly impossible. Also (though Im sure this is a glitch) bring back the charge indicator for Forge Guns and railgun turrets, it only makes sense that a weapon like that woud have an indicator on how far charged it is.
And for the record, I don't use the Forge all that often, I just see it as a serious problem for other players that needs to be addressed. |

Yeah, this was sort of unnecessary. Nerfing the splash was enough, but the 50% speed reduction while charging is overkill.
Pick one or the other. |

Plus it doesn't even make sense. Why would charging decrease movement speed? That's like holding a microwave and having it triple in weight when you turn it on. |

I use the Forge Gun myself. But it is better for them to be slow. The gun is deadly. It's like a miniature of a bazooka. I wish everything that it's against anti vehicle weaponry should have a decrease speed so that it won't be abuse to infantry. Just like the swarm launchers. |

Well the dropsuit is a powered exoskeleton, otherwise you couldn't lift it. So it potentially makes sense. But they are too good even now at popping in and out of cover vs vehicles, so I believe the complaints are unwarranted. |

Perhaps powering up the shielding drains power from other movement systems, thus halving your speed while charging the shot. |

Well realism aside on the reason on why it would slow the suit down, my opinion still stands on nerfing the movement speed |

Try running with a jackhammer while using it. I'm sure technology in the future is sophisticated but maybe in the final build of the game, the Forge Gun really is supposed to shake and vibrate the controller while charged... |

Forge gun needs its old reticle back, and that reticle needs to shake like mad whilst charging/charged. It is simply too damn accurate now. As for the movement speed, I'm fine with the penalty but I think the penalty could be reduced a bit. |

Yeah, the shake helped even things out a bit, maybe not quite as much as it was, but a bit more than current to make the super long range shots harder. Also agree the movement penalty feels a bit harsh, but not against the idea. Soft touch on that one. |
