Hate to be another naysayer Project Nova/Dust 2.0 is not what many of us were hoping for. The game went from original work with customization to a run of the mil lobby shooter.
Over all the edge it had to pull in customers for something different from Halo, COD, Battlefield, was just completely lost.
You mean what "some" of us were hoping for. So far, I'm still seeing a lot of people here supporting Project Nova despite how limited it looks mainly because we understand it to be just a pre-alpha that is completely rebuilt from the ground up. This time only without the past mistakes that made Dust 514 fail.
As for your "naysaying" I can see how that attitude reminds me of this quote recently from Rattati.
Quote:
MASSIVELYOP: "And then maybe when itGÇÖs viable, then talk about connecting it to EVE in a way that is mutually beneficial to both games?"
CCP RATTATI: "Yes, exactly. The thing is that now that people have seen Nova, they are saying, GÇ£Well thatGÇÖs nothing unique; why are you showing this to us because thereGÇÖs no EVE connection!GÇ¥ But the exact opposite is what they said in the last six months. They said, GÇ£Why would I even want to play connected to EVE when I can barely get 20 frames per second and IGÇÖm lagging and the shooter gameplay isnGÇÖt great?GÇ¥"

And it's heavily streamlined to it's core features with little customization so players can drop in, drop out during the convention without having some dickcheese spend 20 minutes fiddling with his PG/CPU optimization.
This was a chance for people to see what a New Eden FPS built in UE4, minus the bad legacy code, can do.
This was not a final draft, fully featured game.
TL;DR - pull your head out of your butt.
And just an aside: for a pre-alpha game it actually looked pretty damn good, imo. Frame rate was stable and animations were fluid. If this is any indication of the quality "core shooter mechanics" CCP Rattati wants to build off of then I'm on board. This is like the sixth or seventh attempt to make this game using the exact same assets. Can we please stop calling it alpha and just refer it to as "shiny train wreck"?
These assets weren't the train wreck. The legacy code is the train wreck.

I am not a big fan of the new loadout system, judged by what we saw until now and what they said it will become. I thought Dusts Loadout was perfectly fine and basically the best part of the game.
I'm going to be honest with you about that. The loadout system in Dust needed more work. It wasn't exactly fine. The UI may have the look of Eve Online's fitting UI, but the UI in Dust was bugged with incorrect stats in some places, missing information that could have helped the player with understanding their fitting (stacking penalties, resistance values, etc.), we were limited to just 30 saved fittings.

The fitting system in Dust is leagues beyond Eve just for the fact we can buy X number of fittings.
Not anymore.
Not too long ago Eve Online just received a feature where you can go to your fittings folder and select the option to buy "X number" of that fitting.
In fact, unlike Dust, Eve Online doesn't limit how many times we can buy stuff from the market.
