To squash a pogo suit, mid jump using a dropship?
I have wanted to achieve this since the pogo mods were introduced (would have been easier when they could superman to greater heights) but I have failed miserably so far.
So before the end arrives, someone needs to make sure this achievement is reached... Get out there skilled dropshippers and make New Eden proud! |

No, but I've frequently splattered / crushed people as they've jumped out of enemy dropships. That's always satisfying.

I'm not too skilled, but I've been practicing flybys in the Caldari facility. I smashed one trying to jump off the middle rampway while doing straffing run. I know it was luck but hey=ƒñÿ

Oh and as a side note, splattering coward pilots who bail from their burning ship is just magical.
******* magical.
Lol, I did accidentally squash someone jumping out of their ads once, I usually follow them to the ground and "pew pew" but that one time I went a little faster than I expected and caught him up mid way down.

Haha, brilliant... All the best things are about 90% luck, you have earned honour among pilots! (In my opinion.) |

Salutations.
As a DS operator, and a turret gunner for other vehicles, I have the answer to your question. And unfortunately or you, it's not a happy one.
Dust's mechanics regarding impact, shoving, and compression were designed even before the 2013 official release. Except for some famous Lav road-kill adjustments, these mechanics don't seem to have been changed at all over the course of Dust's existence.
A dropsuit heavily buffers the wearer from IMPACT. "Buffer" explains why you lose some shield/armour hp free-jumping from a moderate height, and die free-jumping from a greater height. Your suit protects you even better from Horizontal SHOVING. Only a fast-moving Lav can kill by SHOVING into you (aka, murder taxi).
ROLL-OVER is what HAV operators do to occasionally kill a player. Whether slowly over you from a high rock or platform, or over you at moderate speed on a road, the HAV is the only vehicle that can accomplish ROLLING over you. (If a Lav tries a role-over, you simply get shoved or tossed aside in your dropsuit)
COMPRESSION is what a DS can accomplish (as well as any vehicle tumbling or falling from a short height). I think the idea is that if you are "pinched" or "squashed" between the vehicle and the ground hard enough, your suit bursts like an eggshell with you inside it. This is also true if my DS compresses a player (even its own driver in a bail-out) against a wall or column.
But remember, COMPRESSION is "Death by being Pinched against something". Your "pogo players" issue happily escapes that kind of DS-style kill.
....That doesn't mean you can't kill a pogo-hopping player with your Dropship. It just means you have to "impact" her to the ground or roof, and quickly flatten her before she can jump off the deck again.
Happy Hunting---err, squashing! 07 !!!

It's an interesting theory, but it doesn't explain the "scoop" kills. As in when you scoop someone off a tower and glue them to the side of your dropship, then you hit the after-burner and after a few seconds they just kinda pop in mid air +50...
I'm pretty sure you can kill people with a fast moving dropship.
Tests must be done... Who wants to pogo for us? lol.
I've also "squashed" pogo-ers with a turbo tank before... And they definitely weren't underneath the tank, they literally ragdolled off the top of it. |

I have been runned over and killed by deepshit, I mean derpship, more than I can count.
I always fight them in the rooptops with swarms. I run to them head on while trying to lock on jump shoot and they kill me while heading towards me in my highjump.
Sometimes I try to evade but thet still ram to me midair in the highpoint of my jump and kills me.
Did I back down. No sir its either I kill them or they kill me.
Fun times.

My spirit is longing for Tamriel.

Nope, I'm sorry, but your suggestions are bending down the road called "interpretation". FUN as HECK, but still interpretation.
Sometimes we're interpreting what is actually a form of IMPACT or SHOVING or COMPRESSION (just like my three words here are an interpretation of CCP's mechanics).
Your speedy-tank kill... I'd call just a rare SHOVING kill.
And then those odd exploits (where a player gets "stuck" on a railing or in a wall, or "glued to the crack in the top of a Dropship), and he dies with his 50+ Kill in your wallet.... and there's no logical explanation for it-----he just lost his life... LOL, I'd interpret that as a glitch. Like landing my DS on the aft section of an MCC often causes "Celesta fell and died".
Still, as I said..... Happy Squashing!
Derpy, you're cracking me up, LOL!!!

I just came back to these forums after being reminded about DUST 514 and the servers shutting down. Thankfully, I'm playing Star Citizen, which is actually going to become a reality, unlike this game, which I invested all too much into, and I'm glad I didn't buy any BPOs or anything for insane money. |

Well.... the way you've delivered the post about the game... kind of makes it seem as though your derailing one person's thread in order to promote/advertize "Star Citizen".
....ouch.
But, I hope the game you're mentioning is very enjoyable for you. While you played Dust, were you a drophisp operator, and did you encounter any of the situations Derpy described?

Ok, I'll be honest, it probably is a glitch, what with the physics engine being so horribly temperamental... But at this point, all bugs are features! lol.
Though the tank kills weren't rare at all, if you're moving fast when a pogo-er lands on the roof, they die, without question.

Or like that time my full hp tank exploded because I drove over a small bump... Us vehicle users sure do commit suicide a lot! |
